Surprise: Obama Administration Does Not Understand US Economy

drudge tweet
Yesterday Matt Drudge used Twitter to tweak the White House over Obamacare. Predictably, the White House went on the attack. What they succeeded in doing was making plain for the world to see what most of us already knew. They really have no idea of how the US economy works or how a private business operates. The second lesson was that significant portions of the media are equally ignorant of how the private sector operates and are slavish bootlickers of the White House.

The White House’s defense was that Drudge was lying because 2014 taxes aren’t due until April 15, 2015. More of the details are at Breitbart.com and it is worth the visit.

Prime offenders:

Sahil Kapur @sahilkapur of the propaganda site Talking Points Memo.
Dylan Scott @DylanScott also of TPM
Sam Baker @Sam_Baker of National Journal
Jeffrey Young @jeffyoung of Huffington Post

None of them could be bothered to do a modicum of research before furiously fellating (heaven knows NTTAWWT these days) whichever member of the administration dictated their hit piece.

Special mention goes to Jeffrey Young (@jeffyoung) who follows up one lie with another one. When he was called out on his criticism, he doubled down:

UPDATE: Drudge followed up on his earlier tweet and seems to confirm that he paid estimated taxes for the first quarter of this year on Friday. The mandate penalty nevertheless is separate from income taxes and isn’t due until 2015.

Of course, this is stupidity on stilts. All he’s doing is recycling the original lie under a new cover.

Anyone who has ever been self-employed, either running a business or as a consultant, knows you have to pay the IRS taxes quarterly. That the administration would accuse someone of lying for following the law is really par for the course for the mouthbreathers who seem intent on running the nation into the ground. They have never worked outside academia or left wing think tanks and have no idea how their policies affect ordinary Americans. And they could really give a rat’s ass about those affects.
