It's Tuesday evening, and we're back again — with primaries in five states this time: Kansas, Michigan, Missouri, Virginia, and Washington.
Kansas offers the potential for a GOP gubernatorial pick-up with competitive primaries on both sides of the aisle. There's also the potential in Washington's 4th Congressional District for two Republicans to advance out of the top-two primary.
Perhaps the most watched contest will be the Michigan Democrat Senate primary, featuring Rep. Haley Stevens (MI-11) and the far-left Abdul El-Sayed, as that race is viewed by many as the proverbial canary in the coal mine of rising socialism.
In Missouri, eyes are on the 1st Congressional District, where progressive activist Cori Bush is seeking to reclaim her old seat from current Rep. Wesley Bell (MO-01). We're also watching the Republican primary in CD-6, where former radio host Chris Stigall is vying against Kansas City Councilman Nathan Willett and several GOP contenders in the bid for the retiring Sam Graves' seat. (We've also got some hot-potato constitutional amendments on the ballot, including initiative petition reform and reducing the state income tax, so turnout is expected to be quite high.)
Polls close as follows this evening:
- Michigan – some 8 PM ET, some 9 PM ET due to differing time zones
- Missouri – 8 PM ET
- Virginia – 7 PM ET
- Kansas – some 8 PM ET, some 9 PM ET due to differing time zones
- Washington – 11 PM ET
