Good morning, and welcome to RedState's "Morning Minute" — a brief glimpse at which stories are trending at the moment and a look ahead at what the day may bring. Consider this your one-stop shop for news to kickstart your day.

Former Tonight Show Host Jay Leno Has Dire Prediction About Free Speech After Charlie Kirk Killing
“I mean, we’re at a point in this country where, if you don’t agree with everybody on everything, you take out a gun and you shoot them?”
US Senator Endorses Extra-Constitutional Means to Block Populist Candidates From Taking Office
This kind of might-makes-right operation has no place in American politics or even in America. If our higher education system was anything but a sinecure for leftwing midwits, these two guys would be out of a job.
Former MSNBC Analyst Pulls Cover Off 'Shocking' Media Reaction to Erika Kirk's Remarks
Halperin also hit on something else I found very powerful in this discussion of the assassination and twisted people cheering, losing their decency, and effectively trying to deny Kirk's humanity.

Expert Claims Kirk's Assassination Probably Won't Be the Last
Unless things de-escalate quick, fast, and in a hurry, I fear we're going to see this happen again. And again. And again.
It's the Doctors, Lawyers, Teachers, and Academics Who Scare Me
We're not in the mood to be lectured at the moment. The smartest thing the left could do right now is shut up, but it's not in their nature.
Okay, Now Leftists Are Posting Hit Lists of the People They Want to Murder Next
If we cower in fear, we will end up being enslaved and face death anyway. If we stand up against evil, we will prevail against it.
The Left's Narrative on Charlie Kirk Imploded Over the Weekend...and They're Crashing Out
The addiction to propping up the manufactured narrative is the new mental health crisis, and it afflicts only left-wingers.
We don't remember many 'fascists' handing people who hated them a microphone and offering to let them share their ideas. We don't remember many 'fascists' who prayed for people who hated them.
WHAT'S ON TAP?
Today on Capitol Hill...
The critters have two meetings/hearings set for Monday:
- House Veterans' Affairs, Technology Modernization Subcommittee — Oversight: Advancing VA Care Through Artificial Intelligence
- House Rules — H.R. 1047 – Guaranteeing Reliability through the Interconnection of Dispatchable Power Act; H.R. 3062 – Promoting Cross-border Energy Infrastructure Act; H.R. 3015 – National Coal Council Reestablishment Act; H.R. 4922 – DC CRIMES Act of 2025; H.R. 5143 – District of Columbia Policing Protection Act of 2025; H.R. 5140 – To lower the age at which a minor may be tried as an adult for certain criminal offenses in the District of Columbia to 14 years of age.; H.R. 5125 – District of Columbia Judicial Nominations Reform Act of 2025
And...we're back to shutdown/CR talk. (Lather, rinse, repeat.)
The House Republican leadership plans to put a bill on the floor this week to keep the federal government open through Nov. 20, a strategy aimed at giving appropriators another seven weeks to hash out a broader spending deal for the FY2026 bills.
Republicans are saying the CR will be “clean” — free of partisan policy riders.
But as we’ve reported, the GOP proposal doesn’t include any of the Democrats’ demands. Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer and House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries have said they can’t vote for any CR unless it includes health care-related provisions.
I could be wrong, but something tells me this isn't going to go down the way it usually does. I don't think there's going to be much patience/tolerance for politics as usual, but I guess we'll see.
White House What's Up
Monday afternoon, President Donald Trump will participate in a meeting with the Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew (of Constantinople). Later in the afternoon, he'll sign a presidential memorandum.
Vice President JD Vance, meanwhile, will host Charlie Kirk's show on Monday.

Sec. State - Marco Rubio — Rubio is currently in Israel. On Sunday, he joined U.S. Ambassador Mike Huckabee and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to pray at the Western Wall in Jerusalem. Later in the week, he'll head to the U.K. to join President Trump on his visit there.

Full Court Press...
I've failed in my endeavor to get that court round-up pieced together. Today. It will happen today, my friends. (And there will, no doubt, be several more court decisions of note handed down today, it being a day ending in "y.")
COMING ATTRACTIONS
Later this week, President Trump heads to the U.K.
Next weekend, funeral services will be held for Charlie Kirk at State Farm Stadium in Arizona.
MORNING MUSING
To say the last week has been an emotional rollercoaster would be an extraordinary understatement. That's true, for me, on both the personal and societal level. In some respects, it's still ongoing — and perhaps it will continue to be for a time. Thanks to the wonders of social media, we're witnessing countless acquaintances (and strangers) navigate these careening jolts — some with grace, others...not so much.
I've seen a lot of righteous anger – I've felt some myself. I've seen lots of references to karma, FAFO, retribution, shoes on the other feet, etc. — and from multiple quarters. If I'm being honest here with y'all — and I aim to be, always — most of those references don't paint their authors in the prettiest of lights.
A little inside baseball here: This being the space where we (or I) typically kick off the day and set the tone for it, I like to include something jazzy or eye-catching here when I can — with a headline to match. But I rarely know what I'm going to write in this space until I get to it, and then I try to just go with what moves me. This morning, as I looked at this space and pondered what I might be inspired to say, the thought, "Vengeance is not mine," came to me. Clearly, it's a twist on "Vengeance is mine," (i.e., God's). But I could see and hear that thought so very distinctly that I felt compelled to go with it, even though it may be a bit cryptic, and not so much jazzy.
It's where my heart is at the moment — bruised with all manner of emotion, but reflective and longing for a way out or through all of this that heals and revives our spirit, both individually and as a nation. You may say I'm a dreamer...(okay, sorry — inappropriate humor; couldn't resist).
I do think the Spirit is moving many of us, and I'm just going to keep praying for that — for all to be led by that, away from the darkness and soul-sucking corruption, into the light. It's a tall order...but with God, all things are possible.
