Coequal Branches? It’s Time for Trump to Stick It to the Judiciary

[I]f we allow these radical, democrat appointed judges to stall or thwart President Trump’s agenda, we will not accomplish much in the next four years.

Megyn Kelly Lights Up George Clooney Over His Political Views—He May Never Leave the ER

Now, for my money, I'm going to take Megyn Kelly's form of journalism over George Clooney's pretending to be a journalist. Also, I'm going to try to never tick Megyn Kelly off for the rest of my life.

Here's the Rest of the Story About that ICE 'Raid' on Day Laborers at a California Home Depot

It would be refreshing if the media was more conscientious in its reporting on this explosive issue, but I won't hold my breath.

So About That Sig Manual Thing...

Sig's language is no such admission, and I should have done a better job of checking that out. I'm not going to make any excuses because this is just basic stuff, and I blew it.

The Ivy League Is Being Hoist on It's Own Petard

In a just world, lots of petards would be exploding at the feet of these malefactors.

Minnesota Heads Off ‘Mass Casualty Attack’ Planned for ‘the Next 24 Hours’

No one has faced the implications of the fact that America is now home to large numbers of people who wish death to it, but they’ll have to be faced sooner or later.

Everything about the liberal defense of this gangbanger is astoundingly wrong.

DAMNING, Receipt-Filled Thread Shows How Feds Funneled Trillions Through NGOs to Fund Anti-Trump Efforts

There are so many dirty and corrupt components of our federal government that we're not sure the Trump administration even really knows where to start.

WHAT'S ON TAP?

Today on Capitol Hill...

They're back next week — gird your loins. In the meantime, we're seeing hints that Hawaii Senator Brian Schatz (D) is angling for Dick Durbin's leadership role following news of his intended retirement. Someday...we'll need to do a deep dive into Hawaii's sentient senator.

House Republicans are gearing up to tackle the reconciliation package upon their return. Expect some fur to fly.

White House What's Up

President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania are heading to Rome, Italy, on Friday to attend the funeral of Pope Francis. Trump will be in transit most of the day — which, of course, doesn't mean we won't hear from him. They'll attend the funeral Saturday morning, then return stateside, spending Saturday evening at Bedminster, and then returning to the White House on Sunday.

Vice President JD Vance and his family, meanwhile, have returned from their trip to Italy and India, with a refueling stop at Ramstein — long enough for the Veep to serve some beer to the troops.

Keeping Up With the Cabinet

I've been struggling to keep up with the Cabinet of late, but we'll peek in on what a few of them have been up to:

Sec. State - Marco Rubio — Rubio, in the Oval Office on Thursday, emphasized that “No leader is working harder to prevent wars than President Trump is right now.”

Sec. Treasury - Scott Bessent — Bessent recently met with Ukrainian foreign ministers and reiterated they have "the United States’ full support for Ukrainian sovereignty, as well as a lasting, durable peace," adding that, "We also held productive talks regarding our pending economic partnership, and I stressed both the need for candid talks as well as to sign the agreements as soon as possible."

Sec. Defense - Pete Hegseth — Hegseth is visiting the Southern border Friday.

Attorney General - Pam Bondi — Bondi and the DOJ recently announced terrorism charges against a member of Tren de Aragua.

Sec. Agriculture - Brooke Rollins — On Thursday, Rollins announced a crackdown on SNAP benefits for illegal aliens.

Full Court Press...

Thursday was a crazy-busy day in the courts. I gave a full run-down of it in The Evening Docket. There will be more today, no doubt. And possibly even some sort of movement from the Supreme Court on the Alien Enemies Act case. Keep the eyes peeled!

COMING ATTRACTIONS

As noted, the critters are back in the saddle next week. They've got hearings, meetings, and votes lined up, and we will, of course, be providing previews/rundowns of those.

And next week marks the last formally scheduled set of oral arguments before SCOTUS.

MORNING MUSING

I feel like I have something in common with President Trump: I wasn't ready for his first term either. I hadn't voted for him and had serious reservations about his presidency — though I was ecstatic that he beat Hillary Clinton. It took me a while to adjust to his ways (and I still wince at some of them at times), so I was much more susceptible to getting riled up over media reports of supposed scandals and scuttlebutt.

But, like him, I'm older and wiser (and maybe a bit wilier) now. So I'm less flappable when it comes to the never-ending stream of breathless reporting of palace intrigue. I've seen it in him — he's considerably less reactive than he was the first go round. And he and his team came in with a plan this time. That doesn't mean they get everything right — some things don't quite work and need adjusting. But I've also learned not to get too undone about reports from unnamed sources (no matter how highly placed they're rumored to be) about what's going on behind the scenes.

LIGHTER FARE

What I want to know is the secret to such well-behaved dogs...

...because this is the way mine usually looks (when she's not a whirling dervish).
