Good morning, and welcome to RedState's "Morning Minute" — a brief glimpse at which stories are trending at the moment and a look ahead at what the day may bring. Consider this your one-stop shop for news to kickstart your day.
TOP O' THE MORNIN'
As Halloween night comes and goes, my real fear is not Frankenstein and ghosts. It’s the reality that there’s still the very real possibility that this nightmarish caricature could actually win this thing.
He's Back! Trump's Hysterically Funny Response to Mark Cuban Insulting the Women Around Him
Not only has Kamala imploded, but her surrogates have too. And unlike Kamala, who seems to have a continual problem with staff, Trump is supportive of the women around him, and they are of him as well.
JD Vance Lights It Up In Terrific Interview With Joe Rogan, With Hilarious Moments About Kamala
One of the funniest parts was when Rogan spoke about how Kamala Harris was asked about Joe Biden's cognitive decline and what a ridiculous answer she gave. Then Vance followed that up with a great imitation of a Kamala word salad.
WHAT'S ON TAP?
Today on Capitol Hill...
While the push to find a new GOP Senate leader in the wake of Sen. Mitch McConnell's (KY) decision to step down from that role continues, there are indications that National Republican Senatorial Committee Chair Steve Daines (MT) will back Senate Republican Whip John Thune (SD) for the spot.
Rep. John Rose (R-TN) is seeking to introduce a non-binding resolution condemning President Joe Biden's infamous "garbage" remarks.
White House What's Up
It's a relatively low-key day for Biden as he travels to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, to deliver remarks about his administration's "historic" support for unions before heading to Wilmington, Delaware.
The Homestretch
Vice President Kamala Harris will campaign in Janesville, Little Chute, and West Allis, Wisconsin, on Friday. Second (not a) Gentleman Doug Emhoff will be in West Chester, Pennsylvania, at a campaign event in the evening. Harris' running mate, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, will be campaigning in Detroit, Flint, and Traverse City, Michigan, on Friday.
Former President Donald Trump is rallying in Warren, Michigan, and Milwaukee, Wisconsin, on Friday. His running mate, Ohio Senator JD Vance, fresh off his Joe Rogan interview, is rallying in Portage, Michigan, and Selma, North Carolina.
Full Court Press...
Big news out of Fulton County, Georgia, late Thursday as the "Young Thug" trial, which began last November, ended in dramatic fashion (at least for the key defendant, Jeffery Williams) when he pled guilty to several charges, including firearm possession and participation in criminal street gang activity. Williams pleaded no contest to racketeering and leading a criminal street gang. The prosecution — which has been called on the carpet by the court several times during the longest trial in Georgia's history — offered Williams a deal with certain conditions he declined to accept, so his pleas were on a non-negotiated deal. The prosecution asked the court to sentence Williams to 45 years. The judge sentenced him to time served plus 15 years probation. Additional incarceration will be required if he fails to comply with the terms of the probation.
New York City Mayor Eric Adams will be back in court Friday, seeking dismissal of the federal charges brought against him.
MORNING MUSING
I expected to see a few Donald Trump trick-or-treaters Thursday night — but mostly saw the traditional witches and devils and goblins and fairy princesses, with a few super heroes thrown into the mix. No politicians among them. I guess, in a way, that's refreshing. Kids are still being kids and politics doesn't pervade everything — even in these last few pre-election days. Let's hang on for the rest of the ride, folks.
