TOP O' THE MORNIN'

The Most Devastating Moments of Kamala Harris' Train Wreck Fox Interview

Baier revealed during the panel segment that Harris actually showed up 15 minutes LATE to their interview, which set the stage of everyone feeling rushed. When she started to filibuster, hedge, and do her word salad delivery, it only added more fuel to the dumpster fire of this interview.

Harris’ supporters will doubtless be moved by her displays of emotion during this interview, but I imagine very few undecideds or independents will be swayed because she once again dodged the real questions that Americans care about.

Hoo Boy: 'To Be Clear, That Is Plagiarism'—NY Times Expert Revises Analysis of Kamala's Book Scandal

When even a New York Times “expert” flatly states that “that is plagiarism,” the issue should be front and center in front of the country—just as it would inevitably be if Donald Trump or any other conservative were caught cheating in this manner.

WHAT'S ON TAP?

Today on Capitol Hill...

Recent polling out of Texas shows Sen. Ted Cruz (R) widening his lead over Rep. Colin Allred (D). Tuesday night's debate likely will aid in that regard.

The anti-Trump brigade is rolling out another October Surprise! Hold onto your hats: Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-KY) reportedly said not nice things about former President Donald Trump.

Meanwhile, House Democrats continue to try and make fetch happen with a Project 2025 ad campaign.

White House What's Up

President Joe Biden's Thursday started early with a departure from Joint Base Andrews as he heads to Germany for a farewell tour and talks on Ukraine and the Middle East.

The Homestretch

Fresh off her testy Fox News interview with Bret Baier, Vice President Kamala Harris will be holding campaign events in Milwaukee, La Crosse, and Green Bay, Wisconsin, before heading to Grand Rapids, Michigan. Her running mate, Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, will be rallying in Durham and Winston-Salem, North Carolina, on Thursday, along with former President Bill Clinton.

Former President Donald Trump will attend the annual Al Smith Dinner in New York on Thursday evening. Trump's running mate, Ohio Senator JD Vance, will deliver remarks at an event in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, while West Virginia Governor and Senate candidate Jim Justice will headline an event in Waynesburg, Pennsylvania, along with "Babydog."

Full Court Press...

No arguments before the Supreme Court today. The next will be held on November 4. Keep your eyes peeled for a decision out of the New York appellate court, though — they're due to drop decisions today and could very well issue their opinion on Trump's civil fraud appeal.

In the meantime, there's lots of wrangling going on in the U.S. District Court in D.C. over which filings will be filed and released prior to November 5 in Special Counsel Jack Smith's election interference case against Trump. Trump's legal team has asked Judge Tanya Chutkan to extend a stay order on some of the filings through November 14. Will she grant that request? (I'm not holding my breath.)

MORNING MUSING

I shared this observation regarding the Bret Baier - Kamala Harris interview on Twitter Wednesday evening (Click the link if you want to see my expanded impression of it): Harris is actually better off-script when she's angry. She stops trying so hard to choose her words carefully and actually manages to string them together in a more coherent, less word-salady way when she's aggravated. It's like we momentarily catch a glimpse of her "authentic self." The problem for Harris is that irritated and aggravated isn't a great look for her. It makes her more "real" — but not in a way that's likely to draw in voters who aren't already all-in on her. Oh, to have been a fly on the wall when she gathered with staff after that interview. I expect they got an earful!

LIGHTER FARE

Obviously, I have a soft spot in my heart for four-legged critters — particularly those rescued from disasters, as my own Hurricane and Stormy (kitties) were rescued from Hurricane Katrina. Happy tails to this pup!
