TOP O' THE MORNIN'
We need a competent leader in the White House during these dangerous times.
And right now, we don’t have one.
Evan may not be wearing a MAGA hat anytime soon, but sometimes, the converts are the strongest spokesmen.
These frank admissions by Zuckerberg to the Judiciary Committee add a new dimension to the ongoing issue of social media platforms and government censorship. One can't help but wonder at what is motivating this new approach.
WHAT'S ON TAP?
Today on Capitol Hill...
Summer recess means there's not a lot of committee work going on at the Capitol. But it doesn't mean there's no work at all. Monday, the bipartisan task force on the J13 assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump took a field trip to the site of the incident as part of their investigation. Other big news was Mark Zuckerberg's confession to the House Judiciary Committee that — imagine that — Facebook censored Americans at the government's bidding.
White House What's Up
Not a thing. President Joe Biden continues his extended vacation, now in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware.
I just remembered Joe Biden is still the President of the United States.

The Homestretch
Vice President Kamala Harris is spending Tuesday receiving briefings and conducting internal meetings. She'll also be delivering a video message to the African Methodist Episcopal Church's 52nd Quadrennial Session of the General Conference. Meanwhile, Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff will be delivering remarks at a campaign event in New York, New York.
The debate over the debate(s) rages on as the Harris camp seems focused on changing up the rules to work to her favor. Meanwhile, Trump keeps accumulating Democrat defectors.
Full Court Press...
Jack Smith's office filed their appellate brief in the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals on Monday, challenging Judge Aileen Cannon's dismissal of the classified documents case in Florida.
MORNING MUSING
Like many, I'm leery of AI in a lot of ways, even while I understand it has its benefits, as well. But I think yesterday I established that its image-generating capabilities still have a long way to go. A reader, riffing on my analogy of Kamala Harris attempting to right a ship on which she's been the first mate for several years, posited the notion of Kamala as Gilligan and Joe Biden as Skipper from "Gilligan's Island." On a whim, I decided to Grok the image to see what it generated. I regret to inform that it...did not do the concept justice.
