After a relatively quiet week on the Hill, compliments of the Republican National Convention, this week promises to be a doozy, starting with Monday and the planned testimony of Secret Service Director Kim Cheatle before the House Oversight Committee regarding the attempted assassination of former President Donald Trump. That hearing starts at 10:00 am Eastern and is going to be a must-watch.

White House What's Up

After his rather unorthodox Sunday announcement regarding his plans to drop out of the 2024 presidential race, President Joe Biden has nothing on his schedule for Monday except for receiving the Daily Briefing. He remains in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, convalescing from his bout with COVID. They say.

Full Court Press...

My instinct says to keep an eye on the courts on Monday. We did learn Sunday evening that Hunter Biden had dismissed his lawsuit against Fox for "revenge porn," so that was an interesting twist. I just get the sense there may be some interesting filings in these cases we've been following.

MORNING MUSING

It was just last...Wednesday (had to check — days are all a blur now) that I was musing about the roller coaster ride we've been on of late in regard to this crazy news cycle and wondering when we might possibly catch that breather.
