The shooter, who LMPD confirmed is either a current or former employee of the bank, was encountered immediately upon law enforcement’s arrival at the scene.

At a press conference shortly after 11 a.m., Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear told reporters “We’ve gotta wrap our arms around these families (of the deceased).”

There are few other details currently known, including the shooter’s name and motive. Multiple agencies are now on the ground trying to get as much of that information together as possible. LMPD is releasing information on social media as it comes in.

At the press conference, Beshear confirmed that he knew some of the dead. He launched a prior campaign for Attorney General from that building, he said, and got to know many of the people who worked there.

This story is still developing and will be updated as new information comes in.
