ABC7 reports:

BAY RIDGE, Brooklyn (WABC) — Multiple people were struck and injured by a U-Haul truck in Brooklyn.

Multiple pedestrians were struck at three different locations in Bay Ridge near 5th Avenue and Bay Ridge Parkway by a U-Haul.

A man in his 30s was struck by the U-Haul on 4th Avenue. He was taken to Lutheran Hospital in critical condition.

Three other men on mopeds were struck and sustained minor injuries.

Video of the incident shows the U-Haul up on the sidewalk with a police cruiser in pursuit.

The driver of the vehicle was arrested and taken into custody after the vehicle was surrounded by police. The truck is being checked out by the bomb squad.

The motive is not clear at this point, although Fox News notes:

The incident coincided with the start of the death penalty phase in the trial of Sayfullo Saipov, an Islamic extremist who killed eight people in 2017 by mowing them down with a truck.
