The “happiest place on earth” has been in the news a lot lately. Disney’s decision, initially, to steer clear of the fray and not take a public stand on Florida’s Parental Rights in Education bill (misnamed by progressive activists as the “Don’t Say Gay bill”) was deemed unsatisfactory to a portion of the company’s employees, who called for the company to oppose the bill, with some ultimately staging a walkout in protest.

Then came the letter from another group of Disney’s employees explaining how Disney has become an increasingly uncomfortable place to work for those who don’t subscribe to woke orthodoxy.

So now, Disney has the unenviable quandary of facing two competing groups of employees demanding two diametrically opposed things from the company – and no one’s happy with them. Maybe this is a lesson – to Disney and other companies – to quit chasing after clout by signaling virtue. Rather than reacting and catering to the demands of one group while alienating another – or worse, ping-ponging back and forth between them, perhaps it’s time to take a step back from the culture wars and focus on delivering the actual thing the company was created to produce in the first place.

It’s time for The Mouse to quit chasing its tail.
