DHS Announces Latest Arrest in Minnesota, and the Details Should Make Democrats Do Some Soul-Searching

In the face of Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz (D) and Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey (D) yada yadaing about the supposed need for residents to protect illegal immigrants in their communities from the presence of ICE, DHS has been quick to remind folks of the types of criminal illegals they've found and arrested in the North Star State.

For instance, as my RedState colleague Bob Hoge reported, one such worst-of-the-worst list shared by DHS included pedophiles, rapists, and other assorted violent thugs no one would want in their neighborhood, including "Sriudorn Phaivan, a Laotian illegal alien convicted of strong-arm sodomy of a boy and strong-arm sodomy of a girl with a deportation order since 2018."

In another recent example, three criminal Venezuelan illegal immigrants allegedly assaulted an ICE agent who had initially been attempting to take one of them into custody. The agent was reportedly ambushed by them with a shovel and a broom before the agent shot one of the suspects in the leg in self-defense.

Needless to say, if Walz and Frey had their way, those worst-of-the-worst types would still be on Minnesota streets. But it's not just criminal illegals who DHS is taking into custody. It is also people like an agitator they arrested Wednesday night, not only for allegedly assaulting immigration enforcement officers, but also because they allegedly admitted they were armed:

Last night during a riot in Minneapolis, a U.S. citizen was arrested for assaulting officers while carrying a firearm.

The individual showed up to the protest with a gun and a box of ammunition in a bag. The individual threatened violence against law enforcement officers while pointing at his bag.

After law enforcement deployed crowd control measures to calm an increasingly volatile crowd, the individual kicked a metal smoke cannister at officers. He then pushed an officer, and he was arrested for assault. While being arrested he stated he had a firearm, which was located along with a box of ammunition. He was not carrying his concealed carry permit. This is not the peaceful protesting that the First Amendment protects.

The individual's name has not yet been released. It's unclear if he's a Minnesota resident.

When you hear about stories like these (and there are others, including the vehicle rammings and the other attempted ambushes), it is not surprising in the least that President Trump is considering invoking the Insurrection Act in Minnesota to quell the violence.

I think that's pretty much inarguable at this point. Prove me wrong.

Editor’s Note: Democrat politicians and their radical supporters will do everything they can to interfere with and threaten ICE agents enforcing our immigration laws.
