It's hard to say which member of the Trump administration the left and their mainstream media allies despise the most, but Secretary of War Pete Hegseth certainly ranks in the top five.

As RedState previously reported, the latest instance of Hegseth causing hyperventilating among the Usual Suspects came after reports swirled of the SecWar calling a "rare, urgent meeting of hundreds of generals, admirals," which the Washington Post reported was "sowing confusion and alarm after the Trump administration’s firing of numerous senior leaders this year."

While there has been much yada yadaing from the commentariat about the alleged "security risks" they believe this meeting presents, RedState's own streiff noted that the meeting reportedly will not be about launching a war on Venezuela or anything of the sort, as some dodo birds speculated. Instead, it will "focus on military standards and the 'warrior ethos.'"

Meanwhile, the smear attempts against Hegseth continue, with a leftist influencer suggesting he broke the vow he made in December amid highly disputed reports of a drinking problem to never drink as Secretary of Defense if confirmed.

It started with a video that circulated on social media of Hegseth apparently at an NFL game between the Washington Commanders (Redskins) and the Minnesota Vikings:

Because there was also a Bud Light can in the clip, it prompted the "Decoding Fox News" account, which is run by alleged Fox News "propaganda debunker" Juliet Jeske, to insinuate that his vow had been broken:

The big problem here, however, is that the Vikings and the Commanders aren't playing each other until December. Further, they haven't played each other since November of 2022:

Community Notes also came to the rescue:

I also saw people making the point that even if the video was taken this year, the cupholder appears to be for the person in the seat next to him, not him. The image below is of a different stadium, but the same point applies:

Maybe it's just me, but a person who can't even "decode" an easily accessible football schedule probably shouldn't be trusted to "decode" a news outlet. Just sayin'.

Editor's Note: Thanks to President Trump and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth's leadership, the warrior ethos is coming back to America's military.
