Pete Buttigieg Just Said What?

Pete Buttigieg 2.0 is serious about wanting to get Democrats on track now. Or at least that's what he wants voters to think.

He's grown a beard -- in the springtime.  And he's wearing wrinkled button-downs with the sleeves rolled up.  Not that there's necessarily anything wrong with any of that. But it just seems to be a calculated move coming from someone who has presented a clean-shaven, polished, and mostly buttoned-up image in the time he's been in the national spotlight.

Buttigieg also has a lot of pensive facial expressions he wants to show off, so we'll know he's really put some thought into what he's saying. He wants people to know that he's committed to doing the hard work of reversing the Democrat messaging trainwrecks of recent election cycles.

The problem with all of that, though, is that, like his tenure as Joe Biden's Transportation Secretary - where he ignored literal trainwrecks and derailments, Buttigieg's messaging in and of itself is a trainwreck of lies, gaslighting, and revisionism, hoping the American people will forget that the radical Democrat agenda never changes, no matter what the current "message" happens to be.

As we reported, in a recent interview, the failed 2020 presidential candidate and former South Bend, Indiana, mayor talked about how Democrats had made mistakes in how they handled the border crisis and school closures during COVID.  He also stated that the Democrat strategy on the economy, jobs, and inflation during the Biden years was way off, and that they paid for it in 2024.

But it was in another part of the Bulwark interview that he really went off the rails (no pun intended). In it, he proclaimed that one of the Democrat Party's biggest failures was in how they'd "said and done things that make voters feel like we're talking about them when we're talking about [Trump]."

What a bunch of horse poop.

Conservative voters will never forget being called "garbage" and "mega MAGA extremists" by Joe Biden, "bitter clingers" by Barack Obama, and "baskets of deplorables" by Hillary Clinton. Those are things that just kind of stick with you, know what I mean?

But beyond the name-calling from Democrats towards voters with whom they don't see eye to eye is the way they get treated and talked to, as though they are some type of three-headed knuckle-dragging monster that needs to be dragged into the 21st century for the crime of believing that we are a nation of laws, for understanding that women are women, for knowing that men should not be competing in women's sports, for believing life begins at conception, for cherishing Second Amendment rights, and for simply wanting the government to leave us the heck alone.

If Buttigieg thinks this "it's never been you we don't like, it's always been Trump" strategy going into 2028 is going to win over any conservative voters or the type of disaffected voters who turned to Trump in 2024, he is sadly mistaken, because that ship has sailed.

For disaffected voters, they've heard it all before - "trust us, we'll get it right this time," and after decades of feeling ignored and disrespected, they chose a different option in 2024, and there is no turning back.

For conservative voters, well, let's just say Buttigieg has a highly inflated opinion of himself if he believes that will ever happen.

Beyond that, and it specifically relates to a potential Buttigieg presidential candidacy, the Trump-Vance administration - specifically, Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy, has Buttigieg's number and will not hesitate to remind people of Buttigieg's myriad failures when he held the position, failures that significantly contributed to some of the problems we're unfortunately seeing play out in the transportation sector today.
