PBS NewsHour’s Yamiche Alcindor is at it again, tweeting out a “gotcha” bit of news on a member of the Trump administration that later turned out to be – at the very least – intentionally deceptive.
We’ve documented many instances of the White House correspondent’s dishonest reporting, including the lie she told about President Trump’s response to the Kenosha riots, and also how she cut off a quote of his to make it sound like he wanted push black people out of suburban areas.
The latest instance of Alcindor being caught misleading readers was this morning, when she posted a tweet stating White House chief of staff Mark Meadows was “speaking to reporters without a mask”:
WH Chief of Staff Mark Meadows, speaking to reporters without a mask, says that WH mandates social distancing as much as “practical.” He adds that the outbreak makes clear that treatments need to be developed.

She then posted a follow-up tweet with a question that was asked of Meadows about masks:
Q: Why didn’t WH mandate social distancing & masks?
Mark Meadows: “We do mandate social distancing as much as practical & when we’re there. Obviously, wearing masks when you can’t do that, in private meetings we try to do that. The other part of that is testing on a daily basis.”— Yamiche Alcindor (@Yamiche) October 7, 2020
Clearly, the impression she was trying to give is that Meadows had been walking around without a mask all morning and putting people’s lives in danger, despite the fact that Trump and some other members of the administration were COVID-positive.
CNN political correspondent Abby Phillip, who also has issues of her own when it comes to reporting it down the line, bought what Alcindor was trying to sell — hook, line, and sinker:
One of the few people having regular contact with the symptomatic, contagious commander in chief still refuses to wear a mask. https://t.co/JTZt9BvoZ6

“Refuses to wear a mask.” Remember that.
The only problem with their “reporting” here is that White House senior comms advisor Ben Williamson had been with Meadows that morning, and snagged video that showed the chief of staff wearing a mask and asking reporters to step back as he took it off, before he began answering questions:
I’ve been with him. Meadows has been wearing a mask everywhere—including this morning, where he briefly removed it to answer questions and told reporters to “stay back” before taking it off. Here’s the video. https://t.co/lfy23dNkt4 pic.twitter.com/Q5iqM3eaeN

Alcindor’s tweet (and Ms. Phillip’s) is still up as of this writing. In fact, I don’t think she’s ever deleted, updated, and/or clarified a single tweet she’s been called out on, including her passionate defense of discredited, 1619 Project founder Nikole Hannah-Jones, which revealed Alcindor once and for all to be the left-wing propagandist she really is.
Shameful.
