Former Vice President Joe Biden and Sen. Kamala Harris (D-CA) made their first public appearance together as running mates on Wednesday in Biden’s home state of Delaware. And as they do in all things when it comes to Democrats, mainstream media reporters were in total GushFest mode over the “historic” scene.

CNN, in particular, has really piled on the praise for Harris in the last 48 hours, publishing pieces like how she has “spent [her] career breaking barriers”, how Biden picking Harris was “a moment in history to remember”, and how Harris allegedly has “no obvious weakness that the Trump campaign would exploit.”

Perhaps the highest CNN praise of all since the Biden campaign made the announcement was from senior political reporter Nia-Malika Henderson, who covered the rally where both Biden and Harris spoke (and where Biden mispronounced Sen. Harris’s name).

Henderson, as you’ll soon see, rolled out so much praise for Harris that she sounded like someone competing for a role as a senior campaign spokesperson. Words like “fabulous”, “fantastic”, “finest performance” and “complete package” were uttered, just to name a few. President Trump was portrayed as the evil masked villain who was going to try and use Harris’s race against her.

Before we get to the video, let’s take a look at a partial transcript of Henderson’s description of Harris and her speech, and then sit back for five minutes and consider how CNN would react had this been a Fox News reporter basically passing off campaign talking points as objective journalism at a Trump-Pence rally (bolded emphasis added):

She was, I thought, fabulous in this speech…I thought about the real caricature that Donald Trump is going to try to offer as her, right, essentially say that she is a black radical who wants to destroy the kind of white American way of life and, you know, overrun the suburbs with criminals. That’s going to be really hard when you see her there with this sort of winsome appearance. There she is in — in some sort of a sensible blue suit and pearls and sensible heels. So I think they’ve got a real time on their hands in terms of what they’re going to try to do to her.

It’s going to be so hard because she is so skilled and she, I think, is going to connect very well in this medium of television cause this is the way that she’s going to be presented….I thought this was a tremendous effort by her. You know, we’ve seen, I think, in Kamala Harris, someone who can hit a home run and then maybe a couple of singles here and there. You know, as an athlete you might describe her as somebody who is somewhat streaky, but here I thought if this is how she is going to present herself over these next 80 days or so, I think this was a tremendous effort out of the gate in….A real, I think, complete package in terms of her speaking ability and presenting a real fulsome version of herself and her story.”

At times it was hard to tell if Henderson was angling for a comms team position or a personal stylist role. Since CNN’s Maeve Reston has the personal stylist role locked up, we’ll just have to assume it was the comms team position.

Curtis Houck from Newsbusters was all over this story, and snagged the video. Watch:

Between their gaslighting about the riots, reporting dog bites man stories about Fox News’s opinion coverage, and running interference for Biden and Harris, it seems pretty obvious that CNN is on a deliberate mission to not even attempt to hide their liberal bias anymore.

Not that they could if they tried.
