Nancy Pelosi Has Declared the Tara Reade Issue 'Closed' - but It's Not

I watched and read with a mixture of amusement and disgust last week at how House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) so cavalierly dismissed Tara Reade’s sexual assault allegations against Joe Biden.

“I believe him when he says it didn’t happen,” she stated when asked a leading question about whether she thought the issue was “closed” by liberal MSNBC host Ari Melber Tuesday. “But I also believed him when he said, ‘Let them look into the records.’ And that’s what they should do.”

“But I’m not going to answer this question again,” Pelosi haughtily declared. “I will just say I have every confidence that Joe Biden will be a great president of the United States.”

The only thing missing from the video clip of the exchange was her imperiously waving her hand in the air as if she was swatting the issue out of the picture:

I have no doubt that Queen Pelosi thinks that with the powerful position she holds in Congress that she can just make politically inconvenient issues go away once she’s made obligatory remarks about them, but in real life it does not work that way. It should not ever work that way.

Regarding Reade and Biden, we’re dealing with a she said/he said thing here, but there’s a growing amount of evidence that corroborates her claim that something, possibly something bad, happened between Reade and Biden in the early 1990s, though we have no direct evidence of a sexual assault.

Let’s take a look at what Pelosi said about Christine Blasey Ford’s allegations and what should happen to Brett Kavanaugh in 2018:

She also demanded Kavanaugh “withdraw” his nomination.

Isn’t it so amazing how their “standards” change depending on the party affiliation of the person who stands accused? Kavanaugh needed to “withdraw” from consideration and a full FBI investigation was warranted in Pelosi’s eyes. But all Joe Biden has to say is “it never happened” for Pelosi to go from “Believe All Women” to “Let’s Move On.”

I’ll go out on a limb and say that the information we have now about this allegation goes a lot further towards giving Reade credibility than the entirety of the “case” against Brett Kavanaugh by Christine Blasey Ford.

On that basis, and on the “Believe All Women” (double) standard that Democrats set back in 2018, these allegations should be investigated and researched thoroughly.

What would aid in that is for Joe Biden to make available for release all relevant documents from his time as a U.S. Senator. The fact that he hasn’t and refuses to in spite of the fact that eventually the information will become public anyway two years after he retires from public life only leads to speculation that Biden has something to hide.

Does he?

We need to know. Deserve to know.
