Failed 2016 Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton endorsed Joe Biden Tuesday during an awkward virtual town hall that has since become an endless font of memes and jokes.

Of her support of Biden, here’s what Clinton said:

“It’s a real pleasure to be here with you and to be part of this very important discussion,” Clinton said during the town hall. “And I am thrilled to be part of your campaign to not only endorse you, but to help highlight a lot of the issues that are at stake in this presidential election.”

[…]

“I’ve been in the lobby of the Senate. I’ve been in the Cloak Room and I’ve watched Joe bring people together,” she said. “We have a lot of the same values in common, the same work ethic, the same belief in America, the same focus on family.”

One of the many ironies about this endorsement, which took place during a women’s town hall, is that it happened in the midst of pressure from certain women’s groups and even certain members of the mainstream press who were at first reluctant to report on the story now demanding Biden publicly address former Senate staffer Tara Reade’s allegations of sexual assault, which Reade says happened in 1993.

To date, the 2020 presumptive Democratic nominee has not commented directly on the matter, nor has he been asked about it by the media in the numerous interviews he’s been a part of since Reade made the allegations 36 days ago. He addressed the issue of sexual assault in the military during the town hall, but not the claims against him.

Another big glaring irony is the fact that Clinton herself has often said that sexual assault survivors must be “heard, believed, and supported”:

Here’s video of her directly talking about how women have a “right to be believed”:

Clinton would later clarify that “believe all women” did not apply to the many allegations of sexual misconduct and assault against her husband, former President Bill Clinton.

Apparently Joe Biden, too, is another exception to that rule. This is a point Reade herself made in a blistering statement made to Fox News slamming Hillary Clinton for choosing to stand with Biden:

“I voted for Hillary Clinton in 2016. I voted for her in the primary. I’m a lifelong Democrat. But yet, what I see now is someone enabling a sexual predator and it was my former boss, Joe Biden, who raped me,” Reade told Fox News. “Hillary Clinton has a history of enabling powerful men to cover up their sexual predatory behaviors and their inappropriate sexual misconduct. We don’t need that for this country. We don’t need that for our new generation coming up that wants institutional rape culture to change.”

She added: “I will not be smeared, dismissed or ignored. I stand in truth and I will keep speaking out.”

Joe Biden’s female vice presidential hopefuls have been asked about whether they believed Biden or Reade, and their answers proved that the women judged the “believability” of a claim based on their political ambitions. The mainstream media should also ask Hillary Clinton, too, why Reade should not be believed when she’s previously stated how survivors should be believed and supported.

“Believe all women” is a standard Democrats set, and they either need to abide by it in all cases, or admit that it was all nothing more than a scam rallying cry designed to derail the political careers and judicial nominations of Republicans they don’t like.
