Displaying Total Cluelessness, Paul Krugman Mocks People for Buying Guns/Ammo During Wuhan Coronavirus Crisis

When last we left you with New York Times columnist Paul Krugman, he was making wild and unsubstantiated claims about the Wuhan coronavirus threat, President Trump, climate change, and universal healthcare in an unhinged Twitter thread. Before that, he boiled Sen. Elizabeth Warren’s presidential campaign failures down to “sexism“, even though that is demonstrably false.

To further demonstrate his utter cluelessness, Krugman took to the Twitter machine on Saturday to mock Second Amendment supporters who have stood in long lines in recent days to stock up on guns and ammunition. He was responding to a snide tweet by Salon writer “Digby”, who wondered if people waiting to make their guns/ammo purchases were “going to shoot the coronavirus”:

Krugman’s response was to mock them:

Is he really this freaking clueless? Yes, he is.

A lot of people are worried about what’s going to happen in the aftermath of the all the school closings, the mandated closures of restaurants and bars except for pick-up and delivery orders, and the other drastic measures the government is taking in order to try and combat the spread of the Wuhan coronavirus.

When people have too much time on their hands, or otherwise get desperate in situations like the one America is in right now, sometimes bad things happen. Break-ins occur. People get assaulted, robbed on the street, etc etc.

Not only that, but there are people on social media (leftists, last I checked) openly demanding for those who are infected with the coronavirus to be forcibly separated from their families if need be so others don’t catch it. Other leftists, like Krugman are warning of a Trumpocalypse because Orange Man Bad, which creates even more concern and panic.

People who want to protect their homes and families are stocking up on ammunition and guns for all of these reasons. If Krugman’s that upset about it, then maybe he and people like him who are whipping people into a frenzy should stop politicizing the hell out of everything and start acting like they’ve got a lick of common sense.

I know that’s asking a heckuva lot of a guy like Kruggie, but it’s worth a try, anyway.

As I’ve said before, Kruggie really should just stick to economic matters … or maybe not, considering his disastrous track record and his penchant for rooting for the economy to fail because he can’t stand the guy in the White House.
