Going by all available polling data, it was clear even before the first votes were cast on Super Tuesday that the day was not going to be a good one for Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA).
Warren’s campaign has been in a freefall since November, and she’s struggled (and failed) to regain traction as Sen. Bernie Sanders has climbed atop the polling hill.
But it’s doubtful that even she knew what a bad night she’d have in her home state of Massachusetts. As of this writing, she’s in third place (20.7%), well behind Sanders (27.2%). Multiple news outlets have projected that Joe Biden (33.6%) will win her state in what some political observers are calling a “major upset.”
As if Warren’s campaign woes weren’t bad enough, President Trump was on standby watching results as they came in Tuesday night, and hopped on to the Twitter machine to taunt her over her loss:
Elizabeth “Pocahontas” Warren, other than Mini Mike, was the loser of the night. She didn’t even come close to winning her home state of Massachusetts. Well, now she can just sit back with her husband and have a nice cold beer!

The exit polls out of MA were just brutal:
Tonight, in her home state of Massachusetts, exit polling shows Elizabeth Warren:
– lost women to Biden by 10 points
– lost "very liberal" voters to Sanders by 7 points
– lost college + voters to Biden by 5 points
– lost M4A supports to Sanders by 14 points

In addition to losing Massachusetts, she also lost Oklahoma, the state where she grew up.
To date, Warren has yet to win a single state in the Democratic presidential race. Bernie Bros are all over social media demanding she stop “dividing the progressive vote”, drop out and throw her support behind Sanders, but over the weekend her campaign signaled she was in it for the long haul.
But considering how poorly she performed in her own back yard, some reassessments may be in order.
File this one under “developing.”
