Sen. Ted Cruz Lights Up Obama Bro Ben Rhodes After His Latest Scorching Hot Take on Iran Situation

Subcommittee Chairman Ted Cruz, R-Texas, speaks as Federal Aviation Administration Acting Administrator Daniel Elwell, National Transportation Safety Board Chairman Robert Sumwalt, and Department of Transportation Inspector General Calvin Scovel appear before a Senate Transportation subcommittee hearing on commercial airline safety, on Capitol Hill, Wednesday, March 27, 2019, in Washington. Two recent Boeing 737 MAX crashes, in Ethiopia and Indonesia, which killed nearly 350 people, have lead to the temporary grounding of models of the aircraft and to increased scrutiny of the FAA's delegation of a number of aspects of the certification process to the aircraft manufacturers themselves. As my Red State colleague Bonchie has documented, Democrats have completely lost it over the news that Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Gen. Qassem Soleimani was taken out by U.S. forces in Iraq on Thursday.

Their “he was a brutal thug BUT” hot takes have been rather odd, considering the bragging they did during the Obama administration about successful military operations that took down various terrorist leaders in the region.

For those of us in the cheap seats, however, perhaps no hot take on Soleimani’s demise was more anticipated than that of Ben Rhodes, a former national security adviser for President Barack Obama and a frequent critic of President Trump’s foreign policy, particularly as it relates to Iran.

Rhodes was the lead spinmeister behind the Obama administration’s “Iran deal”, which was an epic failure.

“President Obama’s disastrous nuclear deal with Iran was sweetened with an illicit ransom payment and billions of dollars for the world’s foremost state sponsor of terrorism,” Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) noted at the time.

Rhodes, of course, could not wait to weigh in Thursday, and went on a multi-tweet rant asking about the “legal basis” for the strikes and whether or not Trump was “equipped” to handle “a complex, enduring, international crisis” of this magnitude (because Rhodes, completely lacking in self-awareness, fancies himself as the expert on this sort of thing, apparently).

One tweet in particular had Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) pushing back hard. Here’s what Rhodes angrily posted that set Cruz off:

Oh really? Cruz lit him up:

Game, set, match: Cruz.

Here’s a friendly word of advice for Rhodes: When it comes to Iran, Iraq, and – well, pretty much any and all foreign policy discussions, you might wanna sit them out, bro.
