While meeting at Camp David with Congressional leaders and senior members of his administration, President Donald Trump answered questions from the press for about 20 minutes. Among the questions asked was one about whether he would be willing to speak to Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s committee if he were asked.
Trump did not directly answer the question, but did insist that his administration had been “very open” and had done nothing wrong.
“Just so you understand, there’s been no collusion. There’s been no crime,” Trump insisted. “And in theory, everybody tells me, I’m not under investigation. Maybe Hillary is, I don’t know. But I’m not. But there’s been no collusion. There’s been no crime.”
Familiar ring to that, hmm?
Trump also criticized Mueller’s investigation as “bad for our country” and “foolish.”
“Honestly, it’s very, very bad for our country,” he said. “It’s making our country look foolish. And this is a country that I don’t want looking foolish, and it’s not going to look foolish as long as I’m here.”
