The family of Renée Good, the 37-year-old Minneapolis woman fatally shot by an ICE agent last week, after she apparently accelerated into and struck an officer with her vehicle during a confrontation, has retained the high-profile Chicago law firm Romanucci & Blandin.
“What happened to Renée is wrong, contrary to established policing practices and procedures, and should never happen in today’s America,” a statement sent from the firm to the Washington Post reads.
They further claim that Good’s family wants “to honor her life with progress toward a kinder and more civil America. They do not want her used as a political pawn, but rather as an agent of peace for all.”
You can already see where this is going, right? Because one of that firm's founding partners, civil rights attorney Antonio M. Romanucci, is perhaps best known for securing a record $27 million settlement for George Floyd's family.

Renée Good’s family has hired the same law firm that represented George Floyd's family to file a claim against federal officials.

It's remarkable to think the left's new civil rights icon is ... *checks notes* ... a middle-aged white woman from the American Midwest, but here we go. She couldn't more obviously be being used as a pawn, both to push a political agenda and to cash in for the family, than she is right now.
If the legal team, family, and Democrat politicians hold a press conference wearing kente cloths using the colors of the rainbow, I'm 'bout to lose my mind.
The attorneys, according to the Washington Post, hit all the expected talking points, alleging that the officer was merely "near the front left of the vehicle" and fired with "no one in the path of the vehicle."
Cellphone footage and a firm grasp of reality seem to indicate the agent acted in self-defense after she punched the gas and struck him with the vehicle. Today, thanks to reporting by RedState Editor Bob Hoge, we learned that the officer suffered internal bleeding in his torso. That generally doesn't happen if you're only "near" the side of a vehicle.

Romanucci tells the Post that the family of Good is seeking "transparency" as they launch a "civil investigation" into the tragic incident.
“People in Minneapolis and across this country truly, truly care about what happened to Renée Good,” he stated, “... and are committed to understanding how she could have been killed on the street after dropping her child off at school."
"They want to know what could and should have been done to let Renée live and pick her child up safely from school that afternoon. As often as possible, our team will promptly and transparently provide updates on what we learn.”
Right. O.J. Simpson also spent years trying to find the real killers and updated the public every time he got closer to the truth.

You won't believe this, but a spokesman for the law firm admits they intend to file a claim against ICE and the federal government, as well as any potential other “responsible parties” they can loop into the money grab.
The City of Minneapolis in 2021 agreed to pay the family of George Floyd and their legal team an eye-watering $27 million to settle wrongful death claims made in connection with his death.
Buckle up, America. You're going to be hearing about Good and the ICE agent on a 24/7 news cycle for the next two years.
