President Trump announced Thursday that he is planning to meet Russian President Vladimir Putin in the coming weeks in the hopes of ending the "inglorious" war in Ukraine.

Trump revealed that the wheels remain in motion to negotiate a peace deal following a lengthy telephone conversation between the two world leaders earlier in the morning.

The President described his conversation with Putin as "very productive" and noted that his recent victory in bringing peace and stability to the Middle East might be a catalyst to end the ongoing skirmish in Eastern Europe.

"At the conclusion of the call, we agreed that there will be a meeting of our High Level Advisors next week," Trump reported on Truth Social, noting initial meetings will be led by Secretary of State Marco Rubio.

"President Putin and I will then meet in an agreed-upon location, Budapest, Hungary, to see if we can bring this 'inglorious' War, between Russia and Ukraine, to an end," he added.

Demonstrating the rapid pace at which these negotiations are developing, President Trump declared that he will discuss the matter with Ukraine's President, Volodymyr Zelensky, in the Oval Office in the next 24 hours.

"We will discuss my conversation with President Putin, and much more," Trump said. "I believe great progress was made with today’s telephone conversation."

Zelensky, it had been reported, was set to discuss weapons, including Tomahawk missiles, potentially being supplied to Ukraine by the United States. Former Russian President Dmitry Medvedev warned against such a move, suggesting that Russia would then engage in a nuclear-level response.

The journey from that threat to now optimism for peace is remarkable, even for an uber-accomplished negotiator like Trump.

Democrats who have been stumbling about, engaging in political stunts while the President and his cabinet function as the adults in the room with foreign policy victory after victory, will be hardest hit by this news.

Middle East peace, followed up within days by a potential end to the war in Ukraine, might force the Nobel Peace Prize to be renamed simply the Trump Peace Prize. At that point, he'd be beyond being a simple awardee.

Ever the businessman, President Trump also indicated that he and Putin are already discussing potential trade partnerships in an envisioned post-Ukraine war landscape.

"We also spent a great deal of time talking about Trade between Russia and the United States when the War with Ukraine is over," said Trump.
