Charlie Kirk's debate tour on college campuses has continued throughout the country. And, bad news for leftist students - those filling in for him on the booked stops are just about as capable of debating bad-faith arguments.
Enter Megyn Kelly, who took the stage at a Turning Point USA event at Virginia Tech and faced off against a liberal student who accused President Trump of fueling Kirk's killing through inflammatory rhetoric.
Because that's always how it is with the resistance party. It's never the person who pulls the trigger's fault. It's either the gun itself or the person who may have hurt their feelings with words who drove them to insanity.
"Why do you support a president who contributes to the rhetoric that got your friend Charlie Kirk killed?” the student asked. “We saw his rally recently, he said, ‘I hate my enemies.’”
Kelly immediately folded up that argument and tossed it in the trash.
“This is how we get here,” Kelly replied. “That is a blatant lie, it’s a defamatory blaspheme, and it’s inappropriate in this setting.”
Unwisely undeterred, the young man reiterated his stance that the President “contributed to the atmosphere” that led to Kirk’s killing.
“Well then, you have no point. Then your point is utterly empty. ‘Contributing to the atmosphere?’ Let’s just make clear, [Kirk's assassin] was motivated by leftist ideology,” she fired back. "We know it from the bullet casings, we know it from the Utah governor, we know it from his own mother."

The student, in an increasingly high-pitched pre-pubescent squeaky voice, claimed the Department of Justice pulled a study that suggests violence comes mostly from the right because they are "delusional."
Self-awareness: -500 points.
The delusion is in the study that's asking Americans to view a distorted reality. Similar to studies that have said crime is on the decline in blue cities while simultaneously ignoring crime committed by people who are "undocumented." Similar to studies that told you the vaccine was more effective than natural immunity and that masks and social distancing work. They are skewed to make a political point.
It's not reality-based. Here's a dose of reality for you - A new poll conducted in the aftermath of Kirk's assassination shows the American left is growing dangerously comfortable with the idea of political violence as a tool to achieve its goals. In that poll, significant percentages of liberals said it is "always or usually acceptable" to be happy about the death of a political figure they disagree with and believe violence can be somewhat justified.
That study followed another conducted by Rutgers University’s Network Contagion Research Institute, or NCRI, back in April of 2025, which showed the left side of the political spectrum had begun embracing an "assassination culture."
But yeah, it's Trump's infectious sense of humor that is the problem. The first step in recovery, son, is that your party admits it has a problem.
As for the joke that Trump said at Kirk's memorial, which was meant to highlight Charlie Kirk's wife's extraordinary act of forgiveness as something he'd never be able to personally do, Kelly pointed out that the President himself has been a victim of left-wing violence motivated by left-wing rhetoric. Oh, and he kind of has a right to be mad at those who tried to ruin him.
“It's completely normal for a politician to be thinking about his political fights," she countered. "And, by the way, Trump has every right to loathe his enemies — they tried to put him in jail for the rest of his life, they tried to bankrupt him, they tried to put his family in jail, and they tried to kill him."
Shortly thereafter, the young man skedaddled away from the microphone, presumably to return to his mother's basement, where he can make angry TikTok videos about why he "schooled" Megyn.
