A Holocaust survivor was reportedly among the eight people injured in a targeted terror attack on a pro-Israel rally in Boulder, Colorado, on Sunday.

The suspect in the attack, Mohamed Sabry Soliman, used a makeshift flamethrower and threw Molotov cocktails while shouting pro-Palestinian messages and taunting the victims. It has since been learned that Soliman was in the country illegally.

The victims ranged in age from 67 to 88 years old.

One of them, according to a friend who spoke to 9News, survived the Holocaust, an actual genocide where Nazis systematically murdered millions of Jews.

To have escaped such a horror only to become a burn victim at the hands of a deranged leftist on the streets of America is horrifying.

"She is an amazing person. Not because she is hurt. She always is an amazing person," the friend said in an interview with the outlet.

The Holocaust survivor was known to be active in the community and very passionate about their beliefs, trying to educate people based on their past experiences.

"She speaks -- she has spoken at our synagogues as well as other synagogues and schools just about her background and the Holocaust and from her own perspective. She is passionate about standing up for good things, and she is an extremely exceptional person," the friend added.

"Always a smile on her face. Her life wasn’t easy, but she is just a bright light. And anybody who is her friend is a friend for life."

Soliman, a 45-year-old Egyptian national, carried out a targeted terror attack against a peaceful rally on behalf of Israeli hostages still being held by Hamas in Gaza.

He carried out the horrific attack while shouting the leftist rallying cry, "Free Palestine."

Soliman, multiple outlets have since reported, has been identified as an illegal immigrant who overstayed his B1/B2 visa after entering the U.S. in August 2022.

He was allowed to remain in the country by the Biden administration, which granted him work authorization in March 2023 despite his expired visa. That permit was only valid until March of this year.

Colorado Governor Jared Polis (D) condemned the attack as an antisemitic act of terror.

"I am closely monitoring the situation in Boulder, and my thoughts go out to the people who have been injured and impacted by this heinous act of terror," he wrote. "Hate-filled acts of any kind are unacceptable. While details emerge, the state works with local and federal law enforcement to support this investigation."
