Jasmine Crockett Fiercely Defends Judiciary, Only to Get Immediately Slapped Back to Reality by Rep. Issa

Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-TX) passionately defended the judiciary against criticism by Republicans at a hearing Tuesday, only to get blindsided by a reminder of her own past actions against Supreme Court Justices.

Crockett spoke at a House Judiciary Committee hearing on "Judicial Overreach & Constitutional Limits On The Federal Courts," chaired by Rep. Darrell Issa (R-CA).

The congresswoman was somewhat reserved compared to her usual tone, but she issued a rabid warning that the end of the judiciary was nigh if Republicans continued to call out rogue judges.

"The problem that we have right now is that if we continue down this road, that we will not have a rule of law," Crockett fumed. "Because we have people that are currently serving, and they're saying things like, 'Ignore the judge's order.'"

"What it means to have law and order in this country is that you follow the order and you go through the appeals process," she continued. "Even if you dislike what the judge did."

Issa then recognized himself and provided a knockout blow as a response.

"And I'm going to note that when Miss Ocasio-Cortez, or AOC as we know her, filed articles of impeachment on Justice (Clarence) Thomas and (Samuel) Alito, Miss Crockett was one of the co-sponsors along with Mr. (Steve) Cohen, both members of this committee," Issa fired back.

The slap back to reality prompted laughter from those in attendance.

Issa added, "It does seem interesting that when the shoe is on the other foot, everyone is self-righteous, and I think this is a good example."

Perhaps the best part of that video is that Crockett attempts to chime in while Issa is speaking, and he immediately gives her a dismissive wave of the hand and ends the rebuttal before it even begins.

Indeed, Crockett's comments about following the rule of law and going through the appeals process are inconveniently belied by her and AOC's (D-NY) attempt just last year to impeach Alito and Thomas.

In a statement regarding her motion to impeach, Ocasio-Cortez even questioned the legitimacy of the Supreme Court.

"Given the court’s demonstrated inability to preserve its own legitimate conduct, it is incumbent upon Congress to contain the threat this poses to our democracy and the hundreds of millions of Americans harmed by the crisis of corruption unfurling within the court," she said. "Congress has a legal, moral, and democratic obligation to impeach."

A total of 19 Democrats co-sponsored the articles of impeachment, including original Squad members Rashida Tlaib (D-MI), Ilhan Omar (D-MN), and, of course, the newer member in Crockett.
