Black Lives Matter Plaza in Washington, D.C., is being dismantled Monday, the beginning of a weeks-long project to replace it with a mural celebrating America's 250th birthday.

If ever the phrase "America is back" were appropriate, this would be it.

Democrat Mayor Muriel Bowser had initially changed the name of the plaza as an act of defiance against President Trump in 2020 when race riots were all the rage in Democrat-run cities.

As Trump returns with a mandate and clear mission to defund cities that don't uphold the law, Bowser has relented, saying the country has "bigger fish to fry."

Thus, the dismantling has begun. First up, sayonara to the bollards that go up and down the plaza.

Another Convert? Now Even DC Mayor Bowser Is Saying Positive Things About Trump

Following that process, the painted letters spelling out 'Black Lives Matter' will be removed, and the street will be repaved entirely, making it one of maybe a handful of streets in D.C. that aren't absolute garbage.

The entire process is expected to take less than eight weeks and cost less than $625,000. This is money and time well spent.

Now, the plaza will transform from a hate symbol to one that actually celebrates America. Bowser told NBC Washington that "she plans to replace the Black Lives Matter mural with another mural related to the nation’s 250th birthday."

The plaza will now be redesigned to honor the nation's 250th birthday next year.

Rep. Andrew Clyde (R-GA) introduced legislation last week that would force D.C. to choose between painting over the slogan and risking losing federal funding.

Bowser announced a change the following day, though she insists the plans were in the works before Clyde's bill.

“I’m very pleased that within one day of introducing my bill to rename BLM Plaza, Mayor Bowser announced plans to do just that," the congressman told NBC Washington. "My focus remains on ensuring this woke, divisive slogan is removed and no longer stains the streets of America’s capital city, and I will continue pursuing my effort until BLM Plaza is officially gone for good.”

Trump excoriated a similar mural in New York City as the race riots - which resulted in an untold amount of damage across multiple cities due to arsons and looting - raged, calling it a "symbol of hate."

Retired neurosurgeon Dr. Ben Carson agreed with Trump, lambasting BLM as a “Marxist-driven organization" that is "antithetical to the American model and to patriotism in this country."

Carson likened plastering "Black Lives Matter" to someone painting something equally controversial on the streets. Would it be legal? Would it be allowed?

“The larger question is, when you’re in a public forum, a public square, do you have the right to put on there a political statement?” Carson asked. “I wonder what people would say if somebody painted a Confederate flag on a public street?”
