Good morning, and welcome to RedState's "Morning Minute" — a brief glimpse at which stories are trending at the moment and a look ahead at what the day may bring. Consider this your one-stop shop for news to kickstart your day.

TOP O' THE MORNIN'

Dems Called Out by VA Supreme Court Justices Over Brazen Gerrymander Power Grab

Ironically, Monday was the 100th day in office for Gov. Spanberger, who has quite deservedly taken a lot of heat for running as an anti-gerrymandering candidate, but is now "governing" as a power-mad tyrant who can't get enough of Democrat-led "redistricting."

Priceless: Lee Zeldin Drops the Receipts on Rosa DeLauro in Fiery Budget Hearing Exchange

Haven't we just been talking about how the Democrats need to tone down their dangerous rhetoric, and here she's saying that? Not a good look for a member of Congress. She owes him an apology.

Trump Floats Renaming Agency the Left Hates — and It Might Send Them to the Loony Bin

The Left is anything but nice, and they’ve been trying to provoke bloodshed, and as we’ve seen repeatedly, they’re getting exactly what they wished for. While changing the name of their hated agency would be a nice “in-your-face” move, it wouldn’t solve their desire to destroy America.

Trending Across Townhall Media

Bearing Arms — Arkansas Lawmakers Haven’t Forgotten ATF Raid That Led to Death of Airport Executive

It still makes no sense to me why the ATF decided to serve the search warrant by conducting an early morning raid on Malinowski's home instead of sending a team to serve the warrant on Malinowski at his workplace, or even stopping him on his way to work. The lack of body cameras by ATF field agents is also troubling.

HotAir — Biden Administration Broke the Law to Give Planned Parenthood Small Business Loans, Used Codename to Hide It

Luke's story seems to indicate that the violation that might stick is the breaking of the federal records law. I'm not sure why conspiring to just hand over $90 million in forgivable loans to an ineligible organization wouldn't be, but I am no lawyer.

PJ Media — See if You Can Spot Why Some Democrats Think President Trump Staged Latest Assassination Attempt

Did you happen to read in the past few days about the indictment of the Southern Poverty Law Center, which is alleged to have paid leaders of racist organizations to be more racist to create a desired narrative and generate more donations?

Townhall — Friendly Fire? Who Shot the Secret Service Officer During the WHCA Dinner?

Did Cole Allen, the shooter and possible Trump assassin, get off some rounds? Was this a friendly fire incident? The truth is, we don’t know yet. What we do know is that while Trump and his staff are praising the Secret Service, Allen should never have been able to get that far inside the Washington Hilton.

Twitchy — Purple and Painful: Lee Zeldin DEMOLISHES Rosa DeLauro On SCOTUS Law and the Clean Air Act

We noted above that Democrats are not sending their best to Congress, but here is the truly scary thought:

What if they are?

WHAT'S ON TAP?

Today on Capitol Hill...

Tuesday will be a flurry of activity on the Hill. There are multiple hearings/meetings set, including:

They were, in theory, setting up to vote on the extension of FISA today, but now it's not so certain that's going to happen.

Then, too, King Charles is set to address a joint session of Congress at 3:00 PM Eastern. (Do you suppose King George ever envisioned one of his successors addressing the upstarts in such fashion 250 years down the road?)

White House What's Up

President Trump's Tuesday schedule is packed:

Keeping Up With the Cabinet

Sec. Housing & Urban Development - Scott Turner — Turner recently penned an OpEd highlighting "How HUD is restoring fairness to housing."

Full Court Press...

This court ruling on Monday caught my eye — for once, a judge not twisting herself in pretzel knots to stymy the administration's agenda.

Oral argument continues Tuesday at the Supreme Court:

COMING ATTRACTIONS

Oral argument in the Temporary Protected Status (TPS) cases will be held before SCOTUS on Wednesday.

President Trump will deliver remarks at The Villages, Florida, on Friday.

MORNING MUSING

Did you hear the one about the grieving widow? Hoo — that was a real thigh-slapper that one! (If I had sarcasm font, I'd employ it here, in case that's not clear.)

Jimmy Kimmel hasn't been funny in years — if he ever was. (I'm honestly not sure — he never has been my cup of tea.) But that's rather beside the point. His ill-timed crack about First Lady Melania Trump having a "glow like an expectant widow" just two days ahead of yet another assassination attempt on her husband (this one, with her seated right next to him) has been roundly condemned — as well it should be.

But in all of the focus on his disgusting comment in the context of Donald and Melania Trump, there's an even more grievous aspect to what he said that didn't fully dawn on me until a friend and morning show listener — one who recently lost her husband, in fact — observed: "Widows do not glow. 😢"

I'm just going to let that speak for itself.
