- House Judiciary, Constitution and Limited Government Subcommittee — “Balancing the Federal Budget: Examining Proposals for a Balanced Budget Amendment”
- Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions — Hearings to examine making the health care system affordable
- Senate Appropriations, State, Foreign Operations, and Related Programs Subcommittee — Hearings to examine the abduction of Ukrainian children by the Russian Federation
- Senate Judiciary, Federal Courts, Oversight, Agency Action, and Federal Rights Subcommittee — Hearings to examine impeachment, focusing on holding judges accountable

Not a lot of court action on Tuesday, but we did see another (unsurprising) ruling out of Indira Talwani:
- ❌ State of California v. HHS (Medicaid funding for Planned Parenthood), Judge Indira Talwani (Massachusetts) GRANTS plaintiffs' motion for preliminary injunction.
The Supreme Court hears oral argument on Wednesday on:
- Olivier v. Brandon, MS —
- Whether, as the Fifth Circuit holds in conflict with the Ninth and Tenth
Circuits, this Court's decision in Heck v. Humphrey bars § 1983 claims seeking purely prospective relief where the plaintiff has been punished before under the law challenged as unconstitutional.
Whether, as the Fifth Circuit and at least four others hold in conflict with five other circuits, Heck v. Humphrey bars § 1983 claims by plaintiffs even where they never had access to federal habeas relief.
- Whether, as the Fifth Circuit holds in conflict with the Ninth and Tenth
The argument on Tuesday in First Choice Women's Resource Centers Inc. v. Platkin raised a few eyebrows.

MORNING MUSING
I spent the majority of Tuesday offline for a court appearance (as a witness, not a defendant!), so it gave me that interesting experience of being temporarily tuned out while being aware that the news was continuing to news — vigorously. As the meme goes: It do be like that.
Sometimes it's hard to know whether we should look forward with eager anticipation to what the day might bring or with dread. I guess either way, it's almost always interesting — so there's that.
A couple of months ago, one of our astute readers reminded me of Psalm 118:24: This is the day the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it. I'm sorry that I don't remember which of you it was, and I can't even recall what it was in response to, but I took their suggestion to heart and placed a sticky note with that welcome reminder on top of my Keurig.
I do look at it every day. And it helps me to recenter and remember that whatever the day might bring, we are blessed and lucky.
