The Democrats have been doing all they can to spin the issue of Jeffrey Epstein against President Donald Trump. They didn't give a darn about the files when Joe Biden was in office, but suddenly, it's the most important thing to them because they thought they could use it to smear Trump. 

But there's an old saying, "Be careful what you wish for." Not only have their efforts regarding the Epstein information failed to get Trump, but it's begun to expose to the world all the Democrat connections to him. The information that the House Oversight Committee obtained from the Epstein estate has not been good for them. 

We reported how it was revealed that Democrat Delegate Stacey Plaskett, the non-voting member of the House from the Virgin Islands, had been texting with Epstein during a hearing in February 2019. He was feeding her information to use in questioning former Trump attorney Michael Cohen. Not only did that show Epstein's animus against Trump, trying to help the Democrats, which puts a big hole in the Democrats' effort to paint them as long-term friends, but it also showed that Plaskett was in contact with Epstein well after his issues were widely known. 

Then, House Oversight Committee Chair, Republican Rep. James Comer (KY-1) pointed to an embarrassing email to Epstein soliciting money for the House Minority Leader, Democrat Rep. Hakeem Jeffries (NY-8) in 2013, which was after Epstein's sex offense conviction.

The Democrats' response to all this has not been good. Democrat Rep. Jamie Raskin (MD-8) and Plaskett both tried to paint the interaction as a "call from a constituent," which was a crazy take. Random constituents don't generally have your personal phone number. 

Then Jeffries revealed how little they truly cared about transparency when CNN's Kaitlan Collins asked him both about Plaskett's texting with Epstein and the fundraising email. Collins asked if Plaskett's communication was appropriate. This was bad, even for Jeffries. 

He claimed she wasn't accused of "breaking any house rule, any law, any statute," and tried to deflect to Trump. But Collins pressed him, and he said he "hadn't had a conversation" with her about it. Well, if that's true, that shows what a failure of a leader he is, since, obviously, that was a big issue. And it shows, if it doesn't pertain to Trump, they don't really care. If it's hitting in their backyard, he falls back on claiming she didn't break a law with the communication. "That's the end of the story," Jeffries said. Yes, they want no real discussion when it hits them. 

Then Collins also asked him about that pesky, embarrassing email his team sent to Epstein. 

Jeffries claimed that he had no recollection of the email. In another cringeworthy moment, the email described him as "Brooklyn's Barack." 

But this also exposed how Epstein had continued to be a donor to Democrats, including to Plaskett. She claimed that she gave the donations that he had given to her to causes that helped women, after the donation caused a furor in July 2019.
