Historian and author Jon Meacham, who wrote the authoritative biography of George H.W. Bush, Destiny and Power, delivered a warm and poignant eulogy at the funeral of First Lady Barbara Bush on Saturday.
Meacham began by telling the story of when Mrs. Bush ran up to him excited to meet him before realizing he wasn’t who she thought he was, author John Grisham.
Those from both sides of the political aisle remarked at how perfect Meacham’s words were for the “First Lady of the Greatest Generation.”

"The Bush's governed in a spirit of congeniality, of civility and of grace. Instinctively generous, Barbara and George Bush put country ahead of party, the common good above political gain and service to others above the settling of scores." – @jmeacham
