Update: Shooting Reported at Islamic Center of San Diego; Threat Neutralized

There's been a shooting reported at the Islamic Center of San Diego. 

According to reports, "helicopter footage appeared to show one person in a tactical vest appeared to have been shot dead."

Hundreds of police responded to the site. The Center and an elementary school next door were both evacuated by authorities. 

Cops are frantically searching the neighborhood, going door to door to find the shooter, per KGTV San Diego.

It is not yet known how many shooters were involved in the incident.

“I am aware of the active shooter situation at the Islamic Center of San Diego in Clairemont and am continuing to receive updates from law enforcement. Emergency personnel are on scene and actively working to protect the community and secure the area,” Mayor Todd Gloria posted to X.

The San Diego police confirmed they were on-site and asked people to avoid the area of the 7000 block of Eckstrom Ave.

Police said the situation was still active, but "contained." 

The scene at 7050 Eckstrom Ave is still active but contained. We have significant resources on scene at this time.

Update -  4:20 p.m. Eastern:

San Diego Police indicate that the threat has been "neutralized." 

The threat at the Islamic center has been neutralized.

Media staging has been established as the Northwest Corner of Lindbergh Park.
