Trump May Just Have Destroyed the Democratic Party

I have to hand it to President Donald Trump.

He was, as usual, the consummate showman in his State of the Union speech, in every good sense of that word.

The speech was a celebration of America, from the gold medal-winning Olympic men's hockey team to people who risked so much for the country, like Sarah Beckstrom and Andrew Wolfe, National Guard members who were shot by a terrorist while deployed to Washington, D.C., to help make the city safer. Beckstrom was killed, and Wolfe, who was almost killed, is recovering.

The speech even front-loaded a lot of good things, so if you were tired and had to go to bed, you wouldn't miss all the positive change that Trump had brought and would be bringing. A secure border that was done so fast, it showed the folly of the Biden administration and the fact that they just hadn't wanted to do the job. Trump did it so fast that he doesn't get enough credit for it. Gas, mortgage rates, and inflation are all down, while the stock market, wages, jobs, retirement accounts, and investment in America — $18 trillion, which would mean more business and jobs — are all up.

But what do you do when you have a very important speech to give, when you know that half your audience will be trying to cause a problem? We've seen Democrats create scenes before, and you knew they would be at it again. Right out of the box, they were, with Democrat Rep. Al Green (TX-09) causing a ruckus. Then, later, people like Rep. Ilhan Omar (MN-05) lost it, yelling and cursing at Trump from the audience about the arrest and deportation of criminal illegal aliens. Her simmering anger and impotence in the moment warmed my soul when he called out fraud in Minnesota.

But not only didn't it stop a banger of a speech, with Trump rolling right over them, he also took the fight to them, calling them out throughout the speech when they wouldn't stand or support things that were good for the country. They were unable to stop him and were completely neutered.

But there is no doubt that one of the moments of the night was this moment when he completely trapped them and nailed them good.

"One of the great things about the State of the Union is how it gives Americans the chance to see clearly what their representatives really believe,” Trump said during his Tuesday night remarks in the House chamber. “So tonight, I’m inviting every legislator to join with my administration in reaffirming a fundamental principle. If you agree with this statement, then stand up and show your support: The first duty of the American government is to protect American citizens, not illegal aliens.”

The Democrats did not stand.

How do you not stand for something as basic as that? That's the very essence of what your duty is. If you do not understand that, what are you saying?

The midterms are going to be challenging, if history is any judge. But imagine you're an independent looking at the speech, and you see that. What a stark picture of what the Democrats stand for, or more exactly, what they will not stand for — putting Americans first. Who can vote for that? However flawed you might imagine Republicans to be, they stood. Trump trapped the Democrats with their own lunacy, exposing it for all to see. This should be played for the midterms, again and again on a loop, for Americans to see how the Democrats have rejected them.

With this, the Democrats not only confirmed they were anti-Trump, but they officially confirmed they were anti-America and anti-American.

It showed the stark contrast between the celebration and promise of America versus the hate. They showed they were there for themselves and their own agendas, but not the American people. The Constitution requires them to uphold the law, yet they are actively inciting against the enforcement of immigration law.

Trump told them they should be ashamed for not standing. He's right. If they had any shame left. He also chastised them for being against the removal of criminal illegal aliens.

If there were any justice in the world, this would be the end of the Democratic Party.
