Good things are happening.
My RedState colleague Jennifer Oliver O'Connell wrote a great piece on the excellent jobs report that came out on Tuesday, showing more jobs added than expected in January, with manufacturing increasing. But the big point in that report was the increase in private sector jobs and the slashing of federal jobs. Under Joe Biden, the opposite was true, and now President Donald Trump has flipped the script and righted the ship to increase the private sector, while cutting more of the swamp.

On top of that, crime is plummeting.
But what's that expression again about how you can't hate the media enough?
Axios gave another good example of why that's true on Wednesday with its story about the big drop in crime. It was this headline that Axios tweeted out on X: "Crime plunges in major cities despite Trump’s crackdown rhetoric."
Can you believe this presentation of a clear Trump success!

Instead of showing it just as it is, Axios (leftist hacks) are telling us that crime plunged "despite" Trump.
The American people need to vote for Trump policies DESPITE leftist propaganda! pic.twitter.com/PpYlXrYEF0
Wait, what? Despite the crackdown? That doesn't even make a lot of sense. What a bizarre take, not just to not give President Trump any credit, but to suggest that it's "despite his crackdown 'rhetoric.'"
They argued it was going down already in some places before Trump, but no one "really knows why."
Bottom line? It took a dive in 2025, compared to the year before under Joe Biden.
The report from the Major Cities Chiefs Association (MCCA) shows declines across every major violent-crime category in 2025 compared to 2024. It features data from 67 of the nation's biggest police departments, and confirms other studies on last year's declines.
The Axios article doesn't, of course, take on why the Trump moves would have a positive effect against crime.
CNN commentator and Salem Radio host Scott Jennings went right to the heart of the problem, scolding them.
Funny way of saying: “Crime went down under Trump.” https://t.co/5zCZjox6uk

The White House wasn't shy either.
The White House adds “Thanks to President Trump” to Axios headline on violent crime decline. pic.twitter.com/u0ML5qx7bJ

If that wasn't clear enough, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt hit some of the big reasons why things have continued to improve.
This ridiculous framing is why Americans don’t trust the media.

President Trump securing the border, mobilizing federal law enforcement to arrest violent criminals, and deporting the worst of the worst illegal aliens is EXACTLY what’s driving the massive drop in crime. pic.twitter.com/yfiC4BUHbt
I guess it was too much for Axios; they ended up stealth editing the headline. Now it reads, "Violent crime plummets across major U.S. cities."
