Democrats are losing the battle big time in the eyes of the public when it comes to the question of voter ID.
We saw Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) go all in against the SAVE Act, which would bring voter ID, claiming it was somehow "Jim Crow 2.0."
The SAVE Act would impose Jim Crow style restrictions on voting. It will be dead on arrival in the Senate.

This is another example of "everything that I don't like is Jim Crow." Just like my Republican opponent is always Hitler.
Frankly, it's just flat-out racist to suggest, as Democrats do, that minorities are somehow unable to get IDs.
Schumer was even willing to shut down the government over it. Democrats keep fighting so hard against it; you have to think it's because they know it would be a problem for them.

Even singer Nicki Minaj ripped Democrats over how ridiculous this was. She got almost 50 million views on her tweet.
What sensible forward thinking cutting edge leading nation is having a DEBATE on whether or not there should be VOTER ID?!?!!!! Like?!?!? They’re actually fighting NOT to have ppl present ID while voting for your leaders!!!!! Do you get it?!?!!!! Do you get it now?!?!!!

I'd say her thoughts were in line with those of most Americans: why would you not want to protect elections? Unless you don't want to protect elections. If the concern is about the ability to get IDs, simply make it so anyone can obtain one regardless of cost. This is an issue Americans have been very clear on.
But don't just listen to me. Let's listen to CNN data guru, Harry Enten, as he explains just how strongly Americans support voter ID.
🚨NEW: CNN's Harry Enten: "A photo ID to vote is not controversial in this country. It is not controversial by party — and it is not controversial by race. The vast majority of Americans agree with @NICKIMINAJ." @DailyCaller https://t.co/IGtKg3lsmo pic.twitter.com/9QteRAeLmn

Enten said support for voter ID has been "north of 75 percent" for years. Indeed, in 2025, it was 83 percent. I don't think you have 83 percent agreement on almost anything, so that's phenomenal support.
Democrats also largely support it, he explained, polling at 71 percent. Republicans are at 95 percent.
Even if you break it down by race, the majority still support it, with white people at 85 percent, Latinos at 82 percent, and black people at 76 percent.
So the only people who don't seem to agree with voter ID are Democrat politicians.
Gee, I wonder why? Since everything they do revolves around their desire to hold onto power, you know they have to believe it's going to hurt that.

Between that and the coming 2030 census numbers, that could severely put a crimp in their election hopes.
