Independent journalist Nick Shirley had the nation riveted over the past week with his explosive video investigation into Minnesota daycare centers.

The video now has an amazing 134 million views. It's prompted a big reaction from the Trump administration, which was already looking into questions about fraud in Minnesota.

But not everybody was happy with Shirley'sreport, as he revealed in an interview with Patrick Bet-David during a New Year's Eve appearance on his PBD podcast.

Shirley said he'd been threatened online and in person, including with a disturbing term.

“They are saying, like, ‘Kirked — you’re going to be Kirked. You’re going to be Kirked,’” Shirley told host Patrick Bet-David.

“That’s what they’re saying — like, you’re next. You’ll be the next [Charlie] Kirk,” he said.

Turning Point USA co-founder Charlie Kirk was assassinated last September.

Shirley said his family had been doxxed, and that the media had even called his little sister.

“And it’s just like, are you kidding me? It’s not even like — I hate what’s happening right now. I honestly feel bad for my family, because it’s like, yeah, we didn’t do anything wrong, and yet you guys are coming after me like I’m some sort of villain,” he said.

He later added, “So I’m like, my little sister is getting phone calls. I’m like, why are you guys doing this?”

He said this was just about getting financial accountability, not a right or left issue, and that it had nothing to do with racism.

Minnesota officials have claimed they had no evidence of fraud at the places in Shirley's video, but were investigating.

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services announced that it was freezing childcare payments to the state until it received a comprehensive audit of the centers in question. They also noted that they would need to produce receipts going forward to send out ACF (Administration for Children and Families) payments across the country.

Something is seriously wrong with anyone who would react this way to Shirley's report. Everyone should be in favor of getting answers; everyone should be in favor of stopping whatever fraud may be happening.

There have already been estimates of billions of dollars gone as a result of fraud in other areas that they've already looked into. Stopping that helps us all.

But, instead, you get crazy responses, even from the leadership in Minnesota, like Gov. Tim Walz (D), trying to deflect from responsibility and blame President Donald Trump or talking about racism. Walz even claimed that this was all somehow Trump's "long game" to stop payments to the people of Minnesota.

Is it any wonder why you have the problems in Minnesota, and how this has been able to go on so long when you have this kind of attitude?
