Breaking: Lockdown at Fort Stewart, GA - Report of Active Shooter (Updated)

Attorney General Pam Bondi has released a statement on the Fort Stewart incident via her X account:

Our federal law enforcement agents in Georgia are coordinating to provide support as the situation at Fort Stewart develops.

I am praying for all the victims and for our troops at the base.

Update - 12:58 PM Eastern

The latest reports indicate that a suspect was disarmed relatively quickly and is in custody. 

Up to five people have been injured, but thus far, no fatalities have been reported.

The base remains on lockdown.

There appears to be an active shooter situation at the Fort Stewart military base. 

Local reports are characterizing it as such.

There are reports of casualties according to a Fort Stewart Facebook page, but those have not been confirmed yet.

According to Reuters:

"The installation was locked down at 11:04 a.m. and law enforcement is on the scene," it said, adding the incident took place in the 2nd Armored Brigade Combat Team area.
