President Donald Trump and Elon Musk held a press conference from the Oval Office on Musk's last official day as a "special government employee" dealing with DOGE. While he is no longer officially working on it, the two assured everyone that he would still provide advice to Trump. Trump went to great lengths to thank him for all he has done, said Musk was not going away, and DOGE would continue, and that Musk made great contributions. Musk said he hoped DOGE would become a way of life.
The two also took some questions from reporters, including Elon and Trump both delivering powerful condemnations of judicial overreach.

Two of the responses to reporters were particularly funny.
Fox's Peter Doocy asked Elon about taking a lot of "slings and arrows" in his DOGE job. Musk responded that media organizations in the room were "some of the slingers."
Doocy started to ask Musk about a New York Times story, and that's when Elon just shut them down, a la Trump. Musk asked if Doocy was inquiring about the same New York Times that allegedly "got a Pulitzer Prize for false reporting on Russiagate."

"Is that the same organization?" Musk asked President Trump sarcastically. "I think it is."
Trump grinned and said, "It is."
Then Musk joked about them maybe having to give back the Pulitzer Prize. Musk may have been referring to the Florida case, where a court decided that Trump could continue his suit against the Pulitzer board.
"That New York Times? Let's move on!" Musk waved his hand dismissively.
Trump grinned, enjoying that.
Then, Trump had a humorous moment of his own with a Doocy question. Doocy asked him about French leader Emmanuel Macron being slapped in the doorway of his plane by his wife. It was caught by the media for all to see. Doocy asked if Trump had any "world leader to world leader marital advice" for Macron. Trump's response was an instant classic.
🚨 LMAO...!!

DOOCY: There was a video of the First Lady of France slapping her husband, Emmanuel Macron. Do you have any world leader-to-world leader marital advice?
TRUMP: "Make sure the door remains CLOSED. That was not good."
🤣
"I spoke to him. He's fine. They're fine...I… pic.twitter.com/Yq8b5z6ePq
"Make sure the door remains closed," Trump advised, to great laughter. "That was not good," Trump acknowledged.
Now that's good, practical advice.
Trump said he didn't know what the exchange was "all about," but he said he had spoken to Macron and thought the couple would be"fine."
Musk had his own story, explaining how he got a black eye from his son, little X.

Musk joked he "wasn't anywhere near France" in a reference to Macron.
