There has been all kinds of speculation as to who was really running things behind the scenes at the White House at the end of the Biden presidency, considering Joe Biden, with all his cognitive decline issues, was clearly not in charge.
It's particularly ironic now in light of the Democrats trying to scream about "unelected people" running things in regard to Elon Musk. Musk is a special government employee appointed by the duly elected president, Donald Trump, to review the finances as part of DOGE, which is part of the Executive Office of the president. Meanwhile Democrats seem to be arguing that the president doesn't have a right to review his own executive branch and that unelected officials at agencies like USAID have the right to tell him what to do.
As our friends at Townhall explained, there's a new report about who was really running things after that disastrous June CNN debate for Joe Biden. We've written before about Lindy Li, who used to be a DNC member until she threw over the Democrats in the wake of the election and called for accountability for the massive spending behind the Kamala Harris campaign.
Li appeared on the Shawn Ryan Show on Thursday and she claimed it was Hunter who was "basically running the show."
Hunter Biden reportedly 'commandeered' the White House after Biden's disastrous debate with Trump:

After the [CNN] debate, Hunter basically commandeered the White House. He sat in on all of the White House top level meetings. We had a former cocaine addict sitting in on the most sensitive meetings of the most consequential and important government in world history. Does that sit right with you? [....]
Without security clearance mind you. That's who was basically running the show. So, Hunter basically battened down the hatches after the debate to make sure his father would only receive intel he pre-approved.
Yikes.
I should note that Li was all in for Joe Biden until the election and said a lot of terrible things about Donald Trump prior to November 5. I would take anything she says with a grain of salt.
However, the Hunter story is pretty concerning, if true. This might explain why everything was in such confusion and the administration didn't know how to respond effectively to events.
Li also mentioned something else that was intriguing during the show, saying the Democratic Party was in shambles and no one wanted Kamala to run again. She explained that if Kamala ran for governor of California, she would be running over one of her friends, Eleni Kounalakis, who is presently the lieutenant governor. When Ryan said that she would probably win if she ran for governor, Li said even liberals understood there was a problem with the Democrats now in the wake of the fires, that there had been a "complete mood shift across Hollywood."
