We reported earlier on some of the wildest reactions to the Hunter Biden pardon.
Nate Silver's reaction was something else, as we noted.
The White House consistently lied about this. Biden's stubborn insistence on running for reelection was perhaps the singular most important factor in Trump 2.0, and now he's kicking salt in the wound of the party brand he helped to destroy.https://t.co/7sQi2uNNLy https://t.co/lAwX6QNcqa

He said that Biden was a "selfish and senile old man" who had kicked "salt in the wound of the party brand he helped to destroy." Notice the past tense there. He sees the brand as destroyed now.

But Silver, who has been a Democrat, didn't leave it there. He indicated he was on the edge of leaving the Democrats.
I discussed here how I voted for Harris despite feeling like Democrats indulged in a lot of bad behavior that voters were rational to publish. After the White House lying about the Hunter pardon I'm not sure how much more I can tolerate.https://t.co/fk1UVrrrp3

I think he means "punish" rather than "publish."
He even said that no one should vote for any Democrat in 2028 if they didn't repudiate the pardon within 48 hours.
Don't vote for any Democrat in 2028 who doesn't repudiate the pardon within 48 hours.

But please stop thinking of yourself as a defender of "democracy" or norms or the rule of law if you're defending this. You're just a garden-variety partisan dressing yourself up in sheep's clothing. And voters are smart enough to see this even if you aren't.

Sounds like Silver might be on that same path we've seen many Democrats taking recently. The Democrats' extreme behavior just becomes too much for them.
If you reject Democrats who don't repudiate the pardon, that's likely to be a lot of Democrats who you wouldn't vote for then, although it should be noted there were a few Democrats who did call out the pardon as wrong, including Colorado Gov. Jared Polis.

Is Silver about to choose the red pill? He's certainly sounding like he's six inches away from tossing the Democrats.
Democrats were furious that he dared say such a thing. Some folks on the right were mad that he didn't get it sooner from all the panoply of issues with the Democrats.
But he's right on target when he says that the Democrats have destroyed their brand, not only with this, but a boatload of other actions. And if it even moves him, what does that say about the regular people who are looking at all this? That's why so many ended up voting for President-elect Donald Trump — because they're rejecting all this nonsense.
