After the crackdown on the campus encampment radicals at the City College of New York (CCNY) and Columbia, with the police going in and clearing the campuses of the encampments and the occupied building, leftist officials had a meltdown.
Tiffany Cabán is a NYC Council Member. She describes herself as a "Queer. Abolitionist."
"Abolitionist" in the current lexicon means she wants to abolish the police. Oh, and she's also a socialist.
As our friends at Townhall reported, Cabán issued a statement about the police action, which I have to say was incredibly well handled. Plus, Mayor Eric Adams called out the global effort to radicalize students with outside agitators, so bonus points to him for actually getting it.
But if you look at what she wrote, you would think she was from bizarre far-left land. as she called the police action a "colossal disgrace, a horrifying affront to democracy and free speech, and an abject failure of public safety." This may be one of the most twisted far-left pieces of idiocy that you're ever going to see, calling the rioters "trailblazing leaders and critical thinkers."

Cabán attacked Israel and Netanhyahu in the statement, and acted like the problem here is Israel, not the terrorists who started the war by their massacre of more than 1,200 people in Israel. She insisted these were peaceful protesters, despite all the evidence to the contrary, and not caring that they broke the law. She appeared to have skipped right over all the violence, the attacking the police, holding facilities workers hostage for a period of time, and seizing a building, among other things. A city council member should be for enforcing the law and protecting all the people this has been hurting. But her leftism is her guiding star, not reality or the law, so forget any of that.

But the NYPD Chief of Patrol, John Chell let her have it, and he didn't hold back:
"I started to read this garbage and quickly realized this is coming from a person who hates our city and certainly does not represent the great people of NYC," Chell wrote on the NYPD’s official Chief of Patrol account.
Chell then went on to spin a portion of Cabán’s statement, writing that he was playing a "word replacement game."
"[Tuesday] night’s criminal conduct by entitled nonaccountable students and the support they receive from Councilmember Tiffany Cabán is a colossal disgrace," Chell railed.
"A horrifying affront to democracy and proper behavior from people who are not accountable for their behavior. This was an abject failure of how civilized people are expected to behave in society while continually acting like a perpetual victim."
He continued: "Remember everyone, if you want change, seek the change you want be getting involved. Then you know what to do."
Oh, my, that's scorching and right on target. After posting it, he was then inundated by other leftist officials for daring to tell the truth. One official even said that somehow his comments "incite violence." Truth is now "violence" to leftists. And maybe, in a figurative way, it is, because it does destroy their ridiculous narratives -- when sunlight is shone upon them.
The post was subsequently taken down. His staff said it was taken down by mistake, and that he had directed it to be pinned, but the staff he told misinterpreted it. But up or down, that doesn't change the truth of what he said, and good on him for having the courage to say it.
