NYPD Officer Jonathan Diller's funeral was held on Saturday as his family, friends and many officers came together to honor him at the St. Rose of Lima Church in Massapequa Park, New York.
Diller was allegedly killed by a man with a long rap sheet--21 prior arrests--during a traffic stop in Queens on Monday.
On Thursday, former President Donald Trump attended his wake and visited with the family.
On that same day, Joe Biden also visited New York City, snarling traffic for a fundraiser with celebrities, as well as Barack Obama and Bill Clinton. Biden himself has made no formal statement about the death of the officer, did not attend the wake, or contact the family.
White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre made some pro forma remarks when questioned, but didn't even mention the officer's name, and then she used his killing as an excuse to argue for more gun control.

His wife Stephanie Diller delivered an emotional eulogy in which she described how her husband was her best friend and a hero to her and their baby son, 1-year-old Ryan. Please keep her in your prayers; what a wonderful love they shared, that came to beautiful fruition in their son. This is a beautiful remembrance.

"I am so proud that thousands of people across the country are calling Jonathan a hero, but the truth is that he's always been a hero to Ryan and me," she said. "The rest of the world is just catching up."
She also demanded change.
"How many more police officers and how many more families have to make the ultimate sacrifice before we start protecting them?" Stephanie questioned. She later closed her eulogy, saying, "When the gates of Heaven open for me, I hope I will see Jonathan standing there, looking at me like he did on our wedding day. Rest in peace, Jonathan Diller, the man who captured my heart and now all of New York’s."
But in order to get that change, New York City is going to have to change their political system, where they don't hold criminals accountable and so many people who should be held are let out. NY politicians should be listening, but they're so locked into their political agenda they don't care about the tragic results.
One of the most heartbreaking pictures from the funeral was of Diller's young 1-year-old son, Ryan reaching out behind his father's casket, as it was brought out after the funeral.

How incredibly sad it is, that he will no longer have his father to reach out to and to learn from. That's hard to even assess what a loss that is, to him and to his family.
It was also announced that Jonathan Diller was promoted to detective. He was given the gold shield posthumously, with the number "110" on it, in honor of his son's birthday. Ryan turned one on January 10th.
