According to a new report, Joe Biden and his team are considering an amnesty plan and doling out green cards to illegal aliens who have been in the country for a while. Three people "familiar with the planning" told this to Politico.
The plan would grant migrants who have been in the country for more than 10 years access to the cancellation of removal program provided that they have relatives who would suffer if they were deported, according to Politico. Migrants could then receive a green card — a permanent residency grant — if they meet the cancellation of removal requirements and an immigration judge rules in their favor.
That's incredible. He's just been whining and trying to sell the claim that he can't do anything more to keep the border secure without passing a bill from Congress. Yet he apparently thinks he can do something that expansive by executive fiat without action of Congress. In other words, anything that helps the Democrats' agenda, yes, he can do, but otherwise, he "can't do that." And none of that would help secure the border. Indeed, it would only make things worse because people would believe that if they come and just hide out long enough, everything will be cool.
Biden is reportedly considering some increase in money to support cities dealing with illegal aliens and potentially using executive authority to make it harder to claim asylum. But they already know that most of these folks wouldn't qualify — all they have to do is to apply the laws that already exist.
The Border Patrol Union President Brandon Judd confirmed he thinks Biden is leading to an amnesty plan.
“There are a lot of things that he can do administratively, he just refuses to do it because, if he does it, he’s gonna prove that he was basically a liar,” Judd said. “Everything was about a legal pathway for those people that already violated our laws.”
That will inevitably lead to an “amnesty program in the future,” according to Judd, that will accommodate the roughly 8 million illegal migrants who will be living in the US by the end of fiscal year 2024.
“All you’re doing is inviting more people to come because they then see, ‘OK, well, all I gotta do is get here, stay here for 10 years and I’m gonna have a legal pathway down the road as well,’” he said. “It doesn’t work.”
Judd said Biden is essentially manipulating the numbers by flying people in rather than having them come across the border.
“It’s just a bait and switch,” National Border Patrol Council president Brandon Judd said on the phone from Texas. “They’re just paroling people in through airports rather than having them come across the border.”
“They’re just gonna keep the numbers at around 5,000 [border crossings per day], parole people in and say, ‘Oh, look, we cut our numbers down,’” Judd added, saying even that figure was an “astronomical high” compared with the Donald Trump and Barack Obama administrations.
“We’re still five times higher than what we should be,” he went on, “but lower than those record number of apprehensions at the southern border.”
We've reported on this parole program before, and those hundreds of thousands don't get counted into the illegal border crosser numbers.
Republicans need to get on their horse and do all they can to shut this down. Biden will likely play this as he played the bipartisan bill, i.e., "We need this to get the border secure," when it really isn't about border security. But if they call it out as they should, it should put the final nail in his moribund campaign.
