Joe Biden's failure to address the problems at the border has left things an untenable mess.
This is what it's looking like right now, according to Fox News' Bill Melugin, with the highest numbers in a single day; he says he hasn't seen anything like this.

They should deny them entry expeditiously. Instead, they are processing them and just letting them in.

They're moving the CBP people they would use at the rail crossings to deal with processing illegal aliens.
In a statement released on Sunday, CBP officials said beginning at 8 a.m. on Dec. 18, the agency’s Office of Field Operations will suspend operations at the international railway crossing bridges in Eagle Pass and El Paso, Texas in order to redirect personnel to assist US Border Patrol with taking migrants into custody.
The statement read:
CBP is continuing to surge all available resources to safely process migrants in response to increased levels of migrant encounters at the Southwest Border, fueled by smugglers peddling disinformation to prey on vulnerable individuals. After observing a recent resurgence of smuggling organizations moving migrants through Mexico via freight trains, CBP is taking additional actions to surge personnel and address this concerning development, including in partnership with Mexican authorities.
Now, the Biden team's latest move is likely to snarl the supply chain even more and interfere in the economy; It's not to help protect the border, it's to let more people in.
The Union Pacific is throwing an understandable fit because that's blocking the shipping of all kinds of goods--because Biden isn't able to properly address the crisis.

This is crazy, and all right before Christmas, when so many goods are shipped by rail; this would stop a lot of them.
We've already seen how bad it's getting in Arizona, that the Democratic governor is blasting Biden and calling in the National Guard.
Yet Biden can't do the right thing and just stop the illegal entry which would then be a signal to the massive numbers of people flooding in to stop. He's more concerned about funding Ukraine than protecting our own border.
