There's a Border Deal in Discussion: Terms Are Awful, Show Biden Could Have Dealt With This Long Ago

Every day we hear more about the massive number of illegal aliens streaming across the border.

Here's Fox's Bill Melugin laying out the day's stories on some of the impacts, including how a reservation is getting flooded and how a ton of single military-aged men are flooding in.

The Republicans tried to finally get the border security that was needed by tying it to Joe Biden's pet love -- money for Ukraine. Biden's response was that Republicans caring about our border security was giving a Christmas gift to Putin. Biden couldn't seem to conceive of doing his constitutional duty for the defense of the United States -- that was "extreme" to him.

But then finally Biden said he was willing to "compromise." So what does this "compromise" consist of?

Reports indicate the White House and Republicans in Congress are at work on a deal that would tighten border security in exchange for okaying aid to Ukraine  and that a major bone of contention is whether to set a trigger point for expedited migrant removals when illegal crossings hit 3,000 or 5,000 per day.

Yes, you read that right. Biden is going to compromise to have the CBP expedite removals only after the numbers hit 3,000 or 5,000 a day.

So why can't he do it without such an arbitrary number? Why couldn't he have done that since he came in?

The answer is that he could have been doing this all along. He just didn't want to. The only reason he's doing it now is because he wants to have his precious money for Ukraine. Also, he realizes he needs to have something to help his crashing poll numbers and his election hopes. That's shameful that he has failed in his constitutional duty.

As the NY Post Editorial Board noted:

It’s open because President Biden opted to appease the left wing of the Democratic Party, which wants open borders however it can get them.  [....]

GOP efforts to “compromise” here (in order to reduce the overall time) would endorse the plainly illegal policy that Biden adopted on Day 1 of his administration.

And even the 3,000-in-a-day trigger would still add more than 1 million to the country per year — people without employment, shelter or other key resources.

Now this is the kind of thing that may change and probably is in constant discussion.

But now the question is, will the GOP take a deal that puts a rubber stamp on that policy that Biden started by agreeing to either number? They want the lower number but that still is insane in terms of who is being allowed in. Why can't Biden be shamed/forced to comply with the law? Why is it the Republicans who have to cave here to comply and save Biden from himself? And the proposal wouldn't even do much, since massive numbers would still be coming in. It would just be putting a tiny band-aid on a gaping open wound so people could pat themselves on the back and say they did something, and Biden can claim success to help his election chances.
