As we reported earlier, FBI Director Christopher Wray was being grilled In the Senate Judiciary Committee on Tuesday on a variety of topics in their oversight capacity,

Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) questioned Wray about the actions he was taking at the FBI. He noted that he was concerned about how the DOJ had become "deeply politicized" under Attorney General Merrick Garland, and he felt the FBI had become so as well. He said that he'd spoken to FBI agents across the country, and Wray had been unwilling to stand up to prevent the politicization.

Cruz brought up the issue of the investigation into Hunter and Joe Biden and said he felt the DOJ had tried to stop the investigation into Joe Biden. He pointed out there was direct evidence of Joe Biden's corruption, including the WhatsApp message involving Hunter threatening a Chinese contact to come across with the money, saying his father was sitting next to him.

Cruz pointed out that IRS whistleblower Gary Shapley testified to the House that the "natural step he wanted to follow" in the investigation was to determine if Joe Biden was sitting next to Hunter when he used him to make the threat. But according to Cruz, the DOJ blocked Shapley from getting the GPS data on Joe Biden's phone.

"Did the FBI try to ascertain where Hunter Biden was and where Joe Biden was when this text was sent?" Cruz asked Wray.

Wray refused to answer the question, saying that it was an ongoing investigation being led by Special Counsel David Weiss.

Cruz said that the DOJ let the statute of limitations run on some of the more serious violations in question. He also explained how Shapley testified that Assistant U.S. Attorney Lesley Wolf explicitly told special investigators there was no way a search warrant involving Joe Biden's property would be approved because of the "optics."

That's when Cruz let loose on Wray, asking if the FBI makes a "practice" of allowing optics to prevent them from pursuing their cases. Wray said his advice to his people was to follow the facts regardless of the politics. But Cruz wasn't buying that, "Then why didn't you get the GPS data on where Hunter Biden and Joe Biden were?"

Wray said he couldn't talk about it because it was an "ongoing investigation." Cruz lit into him, pointing out that it wasn't an ongoing investigation because they never pursued these questions, and that's the problem.

"You're not doing the work — you got whistleblowers pointing out you're not doing the work," Cruz exclaimed. "And you are hiding behind the skirts of the Attorney General."

Cruz said the IRS whistleblowers contend that the AG lied under oath to this committee. He then asked Wray if the investigators were allowed to look into Joe Biden, and Wray again said it was an "ongoing investigation."

Cruz told Wray he has a responsibility to the FBI not to allow it to become a partisan weapon.

Wray claimed he hadn't allowed that, so Cruz asked if he had opened an investigation into whether or not Garland lied under oath to Congress and obstructed justice.

Once again, Wray said he could not go there, and Cruz replied that's exactly the problem.

"Nobody thinks you've opened an investigation because you're not willing to," Cruz exclaimed.

He said while Wray wasn't a partisan Democrat, he was letting all this weaponization happen, "You are damaging the FBI, and you are damaging the Department of Justice!"

Cruz also grilled Wray about the FBI tipping off Hunter Biden's security detail that his storage unit was going to be searched. He asked if this does not undermine the investigation that they are purporting to make. Again, Wray said he couldn't comment. Then who can, if you won't, Cruz demanded to know. "You don't believe the FBI is accountable to Congress or the American people," Cruz concluded. "When you see corruption, you have an obligation to call it out."
