We've seen a lot of wild actions from environmentalists in the past, everything from throwing paint onto priceless works of art to gluing themselves to roadways.
They've been on a tear of late, particularly in their anti-oil protests in Europe.
Some of the most annoying protests are those that block the roads, infuriating motorists here and abroad. We saw it get crazy during the Burning Man festival, and the tribal police weren't having any of it when they arrested them.
But I have to say that one nun found a very unique response to them that you're not likely to see again any time soon.
An order of nuns is trying to build a chapel and a Catholic center in Saint-Pierre-de-Colombier, France. But there's been an ongoing battle with environmentalists who have been trying to prevent the build, claiming they're concerned about the "environmental footprint" and a rare plant that exists in the area.
The Sisters prayed and formed a ring around the excavators to prevent the environmentalists from attaching themselves and stopping the project, which they'd done the week before.

But some of the environmentalists got onto the property and tried to stop the the project again. You can see one of them running with some pipes. It's not clear what the pipes were; some mentioned these might have been part of the environmentalists' plan since they sometimes use pipes to link themselves together. That way it makes it harder for the police to disconnect them from whatever they are blocking.
That's when the nun went into action.
Énorme ! La bonne sœur qui plaque un écologiste… du grand spectacle en Ardèche où des religieuses défendent le chantier d’un futur centre religieux face aux militants qui bloquent à cause de l’impact sur l’environnement.

Here's the translation:
Huge ! The good sister who dumps an environmentalist... a big spectacle in Ardèche where nuns defend the construction site of a future religious center against activists who are blocking it because of the impact on the environment.
Now that's a tackle on par with the NFL. I'm guessing the environmentalist didn't expect that he was going to get such good defense from the sisters. The clip has understandably gone viral, with more than 4 million views and many hailing the good sister for her actions. Talk about a flying nun. The environmentalist learned a hard lesson -- never mess with nuns charged up with the spirit. She was having nun of that. God helps those who help themselves, and she certainly put that old adage into practice. Then someone also stomped all over the pipe.
Doing the lord’s work. The Giants need to draft her. https://t.co/cNh79Wbz6e

Absolute steal if the @Bengals add her to the secondary. Imagine this woman subbing for Hilton in the nickel on third downs for pass rushing. https://t.co/FHx2pj3vyV
