WATCH: Rachel Levine's Bizarre Defense of 'Gender-Affirming' Care for Minors Because of 'Wrong Puberty'

Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Assistant Secretary Rachel Levine appeared on “ABC Nightline” to push what he called “gender-affirming” care for minor children.

Levine — the highest-ranking person who claims to be transgender in the Biden administration — attacked Republicans who wanted to protect children from abuse. Levine was asked what he would say to folks who think they’re being reasonable by suggesting that children just wait until they are 18 to make such a life-altering decision. I don’t think Levine understood that he was truly arguing against his position with his response.

“Adolescence is hard and puberty is hard,” Levine replied. “What if you’re going through the wrong puberty? What if you inside feel that you are female, but now you’re going through a male puberty?”

What is the “wrong puberty”? Why would anyone want to make such a life-altering change to a child? There are reasons we have age limits on things like drinking or getting tattoos, but suddenly it’s cool to get transitioned, take hormones, and have mutilating surgery. What if the child is confused, suffering from mental illness, or has some other issue? What if the child is just a tomboy but is surrounded by liberal trendy people telling her that means she’s a boy?

You cannot go through the “wrong puberty” — even if you get surgery and/or take hormones. If you are born a male, you will not grow a uterus and you will not be having menstruation anytime soon. If you halt a child’s puberty, you are interrupting their natural development.

But the Biden administration endorses this and puts Levine in a position of power.

Levine claimed in the ABC interview that young children are not getting gender-related surgeries or procedures, but that other interventions like hormone and speech therapies can help them “explore” it.

“I want to make it clear that for pre-pubertal children, there are no medical procedures done,” she said. “The standard of care allows them to explore that with therapy.”

Levine declared that such treatments are “literally suicide prevention care” and that bans against them are “unscientific” and “medically harmful.”

“Gender-affirming care is medical care,” she said. “Gender-affirming care is mental health care. Gender-affirming care is literally suicide prevention care.”

If I’m reading that right and that’s what he said, it means Levine is leaving open medical procedures for kids after they hit puberty, which could mean still very young, usually around 12-13, and “therapy” to “explore” all this before then. That amounts to experimenting with children.

But Levine didn’t fully “transition” until he was 54 years old, in 2011. Rachel Levine 2023, please meet Rachel Levine 2019. What he said then was that he couldn’t imagine transitioning earlier because then he wouldn’t have had his children.

Exactly. His position now is denying children from that very option that he had. 2019 Rachel Levine just did in 2023 Rachel Levine. Why would you do that to children? It’s truly troubling that you have people like Levine in positions of power who seem to think that this is okay and are even promoting this.

Parents Defending Education President Nicki Neily highlighted the clip on Twitter and took a shot at Levine’s credibility, asking, “This is the ‘expert’ parents are supposed to trust?”

As we reported in the past, Levine has called on Big Tech companies to deal with the “substantial misinformation” that he claimed was out there on social media about “gender-affirming care” that was “dangerous to public health.” So not only does he want to promote all this, he doesn’t want to have any “misinformation” about it all, which sounds a lot like shutting down things that might question all this.

People were not shy about letting Levine know what they thought about his position.
