'Senior Political Appointee' Cited by IRS Whistleblower Revealed, Comer Says 'Walls Closing In' on Biden Family

We reported some incredibly concerning things over the last couple of days in the Biden family scandal.

First, there was a report from House Oversight Committee Chair James Comer (R-KY) that there were at least six more Biden family members involved in the financial dealings. That adds up to at least nine family members so far.

Then came the news about an IRS supervisory agent wanting whistleblower protections to talk to Congress because the whistleblower has evidence the case against Hunter Biden has been mishandled, and that there were “clear conflicts of interest” in the investigation. CBS’ Catherine Herridge shared the letter from the whistleblower’s attorney, Mark Lytle.

My client has already made legally protected disclosures internally at the IRS, through counsel to the U.S. Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration, and to the Department of Justice, Office of the Inspector General. The protected disclosures: (1) contradict sworn testimony to Congress by a senior political appointee, (2) involve failure to mitigate clear conflicts of interest in the ultimate disposition of the case, and (3) detail examples of preferential treatment and politics improperly infecting decisions and protocols that would normally be followed by career law enforcement professionals in similar circumstances if the subject were not politically connected.

Not only does this raise problems about bias in the case, but it also raises questions about a “senior political appointee” possibly lying to Congress about the matter. That’s another huge problem and creates an additional scandal, if true.

Lytle said his client was willing to come forward to say the investigation has been hampered by what the whistleblower says was “special treatment.”

“Typical steps” that would have been taken by an investigator were “compromised” because of “political considerations,” Lytle said. While Lytle didn’t say it was Hunter Biden that was the subject of the investigation, CBS said that they confirmed that he was. CBS also identified the potential “senior political appointee” — they’re saying that referenced Attorney General Merrick Garland.

What does the White House have to say about these concerning revelations? White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said they don’t comment on ongoing investigations. Unless it’s politically advantageous to comment, of course. But certainly not when it might hurt them, as in this case. They’ll do all they can to avoid commenting here.

But House Oversight Committee Chair James Comer was not being silent about the letter or the Biden family’s financial dealings. He called what the IRS whistleblower was describing as potential obstruction.

“It’s deeply concerning that the Biden Administration may be obstructing justice by blocking efforts to charge Hunter Biden for tax violations,” House Committee on Oversight and Accountability Chairman James Comer told Fox News on Wednesday.

Comer, R-Ky., also said “deceptive, shady business schemes” have allowed the Bidens to make “millions from foreign adversaries like China.”

“The House Committee on Oversight and Accountability has been following the Bidens’ tangled web of complex corporate and financial records. It’s clear from our investigation that Hunter and other members of the Biden family engaged in deceptive, shady business schemes to avoid scrutiny as they made millions from foreign adversaries like China,” he said. “We’ve been wondering all along where the heck the DOJ and the IRS have been. Now it appears the Biden Administration may have been working overtime to prevent the Bidens from facing any consequences.”

Comer added, “The House Oversight Committee will work to hold accountable anyone in the Biden Administration who may be covering up this criminal activity. The Oversight Committee will also continue to pursue our investigation into the Biden family’s business schemes to determine if President Biden and our national security are compromised. Americans demand answers, transparency, and accountability.”

Comer also appeared on Sean Hannity’s show.

Comer explained that about more Biden family members being involved — noting at least nine were involved and he said he thought two others “would be implicated.” Comer said he couldn’t find any “legitimate businesses” with all this money and LLCs floating around, including from countries like China, who are adversaries. Comer said he didn’t see “how Joe Biden could not be compromised” by all this. “What were they doing, why were they getting this much money?” Comer asked. “It all points back to Joe Biden.” Comer said, “The walls are closing in on the Biden family.”

Let’s hope, but I’ll believe it when we see legal action taken. But Comer certainly seems to be lining up all the evidence.
